Adelante felt like the least ESSENTIAL of Sash!'s various number 2 hits at the time but it's HITTING THE SPOT today.

Funny too, how the likes of this, Andreas Johnson, Daphne & Celeste etc all feel very much part of the 2000s, NOT the 90s. There doesn't seem to be that sort of early in the decade crossover at all, they ALL sound & look early noughties.

Yeah I recently listened to that SAW episode. Even given the horrible & limited circumstances they were given, it was still shit. A mix of old live performances would have been better (but I get the situation - what can you do?)

Ooh Stick You is even worse than I remember it? Truly abysmal, even Jamie Theakston spoke through gritted teeth.

I did enjoy this Oasis era more than the previous one. I have absolutely no recollection of the Blue (Da ba Dee) follow up from Eiffle 65. Joey Negro and Taka Boom would reunite a few years later for Make a Move on Me which was the superior track.

My parents have the TOTP on series link on their Sky Box so I was watching some 1999 eps with my mum this evening.

This was the era I really started HAMMERING the music channels and frankly subjecting her to all manner of tut - it was fun to reawaken memories that have lay dormant for 27 years…

Mel C's failed attempts to find a post-Spice haircut that worked for her is one of the little micro-narratives I've really enjoyed while re-living the Northern Star era through these repeats.

This may actually be the nadir.

This really was the peak of Beyonce's megalomania era. I assume she relaxed a bit about letting the other girls get any screen/vocal time once her solo stardom was assured. This is 100% shot and blocked like a solo performance and I can't imagine that's a coincidence.

If you squint, you can just about make out Kelly, Michelle and the pub quiz bonus point shimmying in the background.

Who exactly were the 2 pretenders singing it - neither of them were Rob Thomas! Regardless, I bought Smooth & I still have the single. It was odd that Santana came back from nowhere as he was seen as a 70s relic at the time, but Smooth was a deserving smash. I've never tired of it, it's the sound of a sun drenched July day in the city.

Agree on the tragic haircut, but I do love Never Be The Same Again & all the memories associated with it. Left Eye strutting out onto the stage midway through - talk about STAR QUALITY!
