Just listening to White Lillies Island. Such a great album. Deserved to be hugely successful. The song "Goodbye" is possibly her best ever vocal. At this point I think she truly had one of the best, sultry and naturally beautiful voices around. It has an almost Karen Carpenter quality but in a different range. It's a shame she appears to have lost some of her power in her lower range with this new Timbre. She's still great and technically good but do miss her younger voice.

(I think she meant the name like a 'debbie-downer'. That 'Breathe With The Fire Lola' track seems like the one eradicating a chatbot then haha.

Nice that even the gossipy recent articles about Prince Harry being at a party ages ago :D mention that she has a new album out on Friday/tomorrow. 😊
 
First couple of listens do indeed show a lot more promise than the rather muted rollout suggested.

Jesus On Mars must be the spikiest thing she’s done since Left Of The Middle?
 
I am concerned for a rather tragic chart showing next week, but perhaps the gays will come through for her.

I’ve caved and gone for one of the baffling number of coloured vinyl variants.

Are you saying that being album of the week on Radio 2 won't lead it to being a multi million seller?! :o

For the sake of comparison, Firebird debuted at #10 with 4,382 sales first week. She was still being distributed by BMG then though.
 
On first listen I agree it is definitely more interesting than Firebird, even if there are moments when it doesn't quite come off and occasionally she goes to a part of her voice I don't like as much. The more electronic production is a nice switch up and Debbie a great opener. Endgame has that slightly darker feel and Catastrophe is a tight hooky one too.

I'm open to throwing her a sale but the assorted variants are quite confusing and not cheap.

She said she wanted the freedom to drop music whenever she liked—specifically around her tour dates. At BMG, she had to wait in a 'launch queue' because they prioritized their bigger artists.

#3 right now on iTunes Top Albums, #2 in Pop Albums. Going well!

Did she actually address this in an interview though?
 
I'd be surprised if she starts dropping music whenever she likes. leaving BMG feels like a mistake.
 
This is gorgeous! All rippling pristine synth swirls and I'm swooning. Didn't see this coming. The bracing not chasing opener Debbie, the Appleton aura atmospherics of Endgame, the impossibly alluring Just Drive, the lo-fi dreamy disco glitz Breathe With The Fire Lola and the loved-up trance of Beautiful Love all truly rise above. Bravo Nat!
 
Not that it really means much but the album is number 2 on itunes, below Alex Warren. Ellie Goulding is only at number 8
 
The two bonus tracks on vinyl are really good. I can see why they didn't make the album though, they don't quite fit with it, they could easily have sat on Firebird.
 
I quite enjoyed Firebird and I’m enjoying this (particularly Debbie) but I’m with @FetchFugly that there are times like on Catastrophe where her vocal is unpleasant to listen to.
 
It's a mixed bag for me so far. I absolutely love a few, most are middling, and the only one I can't stand is the rather aptly named Catastrophe.
 
I'm not hearing the vocal issue others are hearing on Catastrophe at all. And i don't dislike the song either.
 
Anyone who pre-ordered the CD actually got it? (I would get vinyl if I had a player/could afford it.) All I know is that I saved £1 on it :D

I might just listen to the bonus tracks (in addition to the 5 tracks I know) whilst I wait. ☺️
 
The CD I bought in HMV has two bonus songs: It Ends With You and The Last Slow Dance.

Are there different bonus songs on other formats?
