Quarter final predictions:

Men - Darderi, Bergs, Khachanov, Fritz, Medvedev, Etcheverry, Shelton, Paul

Women - Sabalenka, Noskova, Pegula, Kalinskaya, Andreeva, Eala, Keys, Osaka

I've always quite liked Tsitsipas. Anyhoo I'd like to make a prediction for Gauff and Alcaraz winning this but don't want to curse my faves.

For the first time in years the men's draw feels wide open. If Alcaraz doesn't hold up post return from injury, I wouldn't be surprised to see an all US final on the men's side. They have so many players left in the draw and with the crowd behind them Shelton, Fritz, Tiafoe or Tien could easily end up there.

Women's is hard to predict too, especially the bottom half so I'm going for Sabalenka versus one of Gauff/Rybakina/Osaka

some crazy ass results today. not least my husband Fran Cerundolo coming back from 2 sets down to beat Fritz in 5 :disco: what a man!!! up to 22 in the world.

the Keys choke was fucking wild but also not surprising. she's just not clutch. credit to Zheng! she's back baby.

Anisimova also not a surprise with how she's been playing I think. out of top 10 now.

and Cobolli is currently 2 sets to 1 down to Blockx...

Jovic/Eala was a serious contender for match of the year. absolutely electric stuff start to finish - 3 hours on court, total power hitting, winners galore (more winners than UE for both), neither holding serve (17 breaks in 33 games), both so steely and hungry for it. it was a fucking classic. :disco:

Jovic at 18 is a phenomenally mature player. and her reward for all of that is a 4th round against Coco Gauff :eyes:

It was fantastic..I thought Eala was down and out in the first set but suddenly it felt like someone had switched her ON!

I also find it endearing how Jovic looks like she is smirking every time she returns serve (I realise that's just her face).

Tommy Paul is a very boring player and a Republican TO BOOT. Tiafoe - Medvedev is the must see match from the men tonight.

If we are talking politics, there are rumours that Ben Shelton is MAGA too. The Shelton family are definitely Republicans - Bryan Shelton has confirmed as much.

ZHENG has just done it AGAIN :o down 0-5 against Iga first set. won it 7-5. :disco: two sets in a row (over different matches) she's pulled this one out. i've decided to stan.

At this point it might not be a surprise if she wins it. She has the story after coming through qualies and she seems to be building confidence and momentum with these big scalps.

bummed for Osaka but she keeps being drawn against the big guns in round 4 and sometimes looking flat in those matches.

Zverev gets exhausted Van De Zandschulp in the QF who just broke the tournament record of most points played in a match. I think he'll win the title, which means we were one match away from 3 Zverev slam wins in a row :goodgrief:

I still have my faith in Carlos as he's clearly answered the question of whether the wrist would remain an issue, but the h2h between them is more even than I'd like.

When was the last time the top 6 women's seeds all made QF at a slam? (It might be a lot more recent than I'd think) Even the 'qualifier' isn't exactly random considering it's her third QF appearance here!

1997 apparently! And the 'qualifier' is also a slam finalist!

it's a shame Shelton v Alcaraz has to happen in the QF as I think he's the player best placed to take the fight to Carlos. that should be a cracking game although won't be on til 2am so God knows if I'll even see it.

but it's become clear over the last few rounds Carlos is winning this. I'm equally impressed and despairing. hopefully Tiafoe can at least give him a great, competitive SF.

QF predictions

Sabalenka v Noskova (in 3)
Pegula v Navarro (in 3)
Andreeva v Gauff (in 2)
Zheng v Rybakina (in 2)

Gauff and Rybakina playing the best tennis so that should be a hot matchup

Tiafoe v Michelsen (in 4)
Shelton v Alcaraz (in 4)
Zverev v van de Zandschulp (in 3)
Khachanov v Blockx (in 4)
