Out of Control (Reissue with unreleased songs) (1 Viewer)

How many ENTIRELY UNRELATED threads is this going to be posted in before someone starts a new one or searches for the original Out of Control thread?

Miss You Bow Wow (Sarah's version) on Spotify, but for some reason I can't copy link to share

I'd quite like an Out Of Control hoodie, but I'm not paying over fifty quid for it.

Now this one intrigues me as it's not an album I particularly enjoy despite the absolutely sublime peaks. So the unreleased stuff will be of major interest. Untouchable lives up to its name and the transformation into a thumping Kelly Llorenna single edit an almost equally satisfyingly accompany peice. Think I'm already going to playlist What's A Girl To Do into this when it drops. How amazing to get it so soon too.

It really is their best album for me. Getting rid of "Fix Me Up" for "Memory of You" would have made it even better and there is a dip in quality with the last three tracks, but it's relative really, as they're still good enough.

Starlight sounds exciting, presuming it's another SPACE AGED KYLIE-ESQUE BANGER

This is so true, bar the awful KL comparison. They handled that edit/remix so well, all things considered and how badly it COULD have gone. The album version remains the pinnacle for me, yes, but the single version is top notch too.

I was wondering only the other day about Untouchable- you have to wonder how many successful acts with that many singles have their least successful one (of their peak era at least) as their one of their absolute fan favourites, which it surely is close to.

I've temporarily locked the Christmas Round At Ours thread until you all stop using it for reissue chat. :greta:

THIS THREAD ONLY PLEASE

10 The Loving Kind
08 Rolling Back The Rivers In Time
08 Love Is The Key

Swap those last two out for Fix Me Up and We Wanna Party and put them both in before Love Is Pain and you're sorted.

(I almost posted the above ranking in the CRAO thread until I realised it was closed :D )

For me, it came a bit close to the N-Trance song Forever. It's in no way comparable to the likes of True Love Never Dies etc :D

And I'd say maybe Kyle's The One could be what you're saying below. And had SeB released If You Go, that would be there too.

Such a shame they couldn't keep the quality control up for the whole album, because the highs are insanely good.

It is even more frustrating considering they literally had the material there to at least fix 2 of the issues. You have to wonder why the decision was ever made to relegate Memory of You to a vinyl only b-side.

05 The Promise
12 The Loving Kind
10 Rolling Back The Rivers In Time
07 Love Is The Key
08 Turn To Stone
12 Untouchable
05 Fix Me Up
08 Love Is Pain

04 Revolution In The Head
03 Live In The Country
07 We Wanna Party (such a shame as I love the Lene original and it's attachment to what was an exciting solo bomb)

12 Memory of You
06 She

The trio of perfection I have given 12s to stake their case to unprecedented levels of electronic pop bliss. Rivers is a sigh of beauty, but just imagine if they had made an album that wasn't so completely in the trail of the highs. It kind of sounds unfinished and like they sponged up what was there to meet a deadline. I absolutely loathe The Promise - the only thing worth holding out for being Sarah's heroic dogwalking status update. Love Is Pain and Turn To Stone also not quite the finish I want them to have, but both very good too. Nicola deserves a damehood for putting out her solo Memory of You.

Whaaaat??? :o

For me it's bland, utter dirge and the complete antithesis of what the girls represented to me with songs like No Good Advice, Swinging London Town and Something Kinda Ooooh. They always had these compromise covers/ballads, so it was like the thing that had often been a necessary evil to shift albums had suddenly now became the lead single and my heart just sinks whenever I'm forced to slog out another listen (until Sazza bellows beautifully of course).

08 Rolling Back The Rivers In Time
WHAT!

some days this is my favourite Girls Aloud song. it's so lush and dreamy without sacrificing the "hook at every turn" quality. Xenomania put their whole xenomussies into this one.

I didn't love The Promise at the time, and it's the weakest of the 10s, but time has revealed its actually an excellent pop song and much rather that than the usual cheap cover.

It's very good, but NAH. It pales compared to the icy electro beauty around it.

I love The Promise, but can sort of understand why someone wouldn't in that it feels like an outlier and less innovative than a lot of their work. But the Wall Of Sound and 70s disco feel together with a stonking pop chorus certainly ticks my boxes. And both Sarah and Nicola particularly are fantastic on it.

Rolling Back The Rivers In Time is probably top 5 Girls Aloud for me.

Together with about 20 other tracks :disco:

I'm glad The Promise was first on the album so it doesn't interrupt the flow as, yes, it doesn't REALLY fit.

HELLO FIX ME UP.

It also really does feel like the album is Sarah's. She has the high point on The Promise and The Loving Kind and I always feel Miss You Bow Wow is "hers".

The Promise is jarring at best. At worst, a chart baiting hit to bring in the less musically literate who found Amy Winehouse too much. Credit to them: it worked.

It's not without it's charms, but it wouldn't trouble my GA top 30.

Untouchable is the best thing they ever did - the full 6 minute version is peerless.

Still baffling they didn’t replace Fix Me Up with Memory of You as Sheena said, as it was right THERE and really would make the whole album far better for it.

It’s taken years to grow on me, but it’s my fave album from them now. Though all the albums are at least good-great to be fair.

I am probably in the minority but love We Wanna Party (obviously there are several above it but it’s a 10/10 for me)

I wonder if someone exists whose favourite Girls Aloud song is Live In The Country
