Saturday Scene

And remember, in the 1970's even Wombles got handsy.

I'm going to mend a tap and rewire the garage so that's exciting

Mr S has surfaced to tell me that SOMETHING TERRIBLE HAPPENED TO HIM. YES THREE YEARS AGO SWEET CHEEKS :eyes:

In the meantime I am listening to FITS OF GLOOM who are a lot more fun than they sound

Mildly hungover but I will drag my arse down the veg patch because its fucking glorious outside.

It’s Paris Pride today since the original date was CANCELLED due to one of the heatwaves. Except I don’t feel like priding out right now 🤷🏼‍♀️

At work. Have to do a Saturday a few times a year. It's not the worst, actually. I'm so dysfunctional at the mo' that I'd only be having a nap by now anyway.

On the other paw, I just scored a £90 guitar pedal for £50. My good fortune was clearly sent to balance things out. 🙌

Been out for coffee and cake with the in-laws and bought a lovely corduroy shirt. A good day so far. Three days of work at my favourite school upcoming. Things seem sweet at the moment.

It's a pleasant Indian summer for sure, but I'm finding it a bit MUGGY.

I'm off to purchase a BLENDER today. My last one is elderly and I'm going to have put it down (into the trash).

Coming home from taking a great niece to Cardiff for the day on the train. After a Saturday of facing Primark, Wagamama and Build A Fucking Bear, I'm looking forward to getting home and lying in a dark room with a flannel on my forehead.

I don’t mind a little nosey in Primark and Wagamama makes me happy but Build A Bear is to close to some kind of fur eugenics for me to cope with.

Bristol's Primark is much nicer than Cardiff's though. It's a hellhole that is deceptively difficult to get out of once you make it into the heart of the store. And Primark on a Saturday anywhere? No thanks.

Build A Bear wasn't SO bad except for all the endless add ons they attempt to sell you. And unfortunately in my case, successfully.

I only had a cheap one for 18 months, before it gave up the ghost.

We have inherited a brand new Ninja blender, which I'm uneasy about using for the first time. The next time I have to dice onions I'll have to learn fast.

The city centre was full of absolutely pissed up wankers dressed in lederhosen for Oktoberfest.

Considering the English, consider Germans to be rivals in football and historic wars - they don't half mind absorbing their culture in a meat and booze fashion.

Oh we get well trained in pushing, pushing, pushing at every opportunity. Thankfully I've only 2 shifts left. My colleagues & manager are great, but I've had my fill of both the insane level of corporate greed & the handful of whinging entitled parents.

I really felt like I should have just handed over my debit card to the young girl (who admittedly was lovely - but then I'm sure they know that will drive the sales) and said 'knock yourself out, love'.

I ended up spending just under £60 on a bear that was one of the cheaper ones in its unstuffed state. And it could easily have been a fair bit more than that.

There's a massive laundry list of things you need to do with customers (including acting like Santa Claus on CRACK) & if these aren't met, or enough people don't sign up their email at the till, they send 'letters of concern' home that your role is under threat (I've never had one but a couple of the 16 year olds working there have - it's an empty threat really but it's pretty awful to scare kids in their first job like that) - it's also minimum wage with a contract that says you only do 4 hours a week. If it's a quiet day, & your 4 hours are done, they can send you home to protect company profits or cancel the shift entirely.

It's been a fun year, because the staff are fantastic, I've made great mates & it can be a laugh, but as a company they are quite disgustingly greedy & exploitative. Your customer experience of feeling fleeced is a common one, but believe me, they fleece their poor staff more.

Rant over, sorry!
