Ted Lasso

The reviews for the new season are BAD

FLUSH!

So predictable. Everything about this screamed "parody cash-in"

oh WELL!

[lolly]

I've seen some moderately warm ones. Either way, it's not making me rush to subscribe the Apple TV again. It'll keep until I decide to give it a go for a month or two again in winter.

[funky]

You need to have Apple anyway to watch the new season of Silo

[lolly]

Had a look, and very much not my thing.

[funky]

Have you watched Widow's Bay? That's absolutely worth a go.

[lolly]

No, but I've heard good things. It can go on the list when I resubscribe.

Empire's (2 star) review perfectly sums up how I feel about this:

For a show that had puzzlingly little reason to end, Ted Lasso managed to find an even less compelling reason to come back.

I think I'll let it build up a few more episodes and see what the general consensus is in a few months before I decide to watch or not.

The minutes thing is obfuscative bollocks and press should refuse to use it. JUST TELL US HOW MANY PEOPLE WATCHED

Dividing 296.6 million divided by the 43 minute run time gives you just under 7 million... which actually isn't a lot for a global show is it. It'll be more than that as not everyone will have watched til the end, but still

Diarmuid has had me watching this with him this weekend and I actually LOVE IT. As someone who has zero interest in football I was not expecting to be so invested.

[Ellie]

The new series wasn’t as good as the old one, only mostly because I find the Alice character and the female players hard to like, whereas the male player characters from 1-3 had much more distinct and likeable traits.

But the Roy/Keeley arc this series made it all worth it.

It's not really about Football in my opinion. Thats just the back drop.

[lolly]

I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, after a few reviews. I really disliked Nick Mohammed's character, so Alice was a positive for me. I agree that the female players could have benefited from being a little more fleshed out though.

But mainly it's just lovely to watch a show that has so much heart.

Oh, and the Tracey Ullman character was presumably just brought in when that storyline was originally intended for Anthony Head's character, wasn't it? It felt a little to me like her character or being there never fully made sense. But the storyline may have already been written and they didn't want to lose it.

That makes so much sense

But it really did feel so shoe horned in
