What Are You Watching? 2026 (1 Viewer)

Two Weeks in August was a slog but worth it for Damien Molony’s short shorts. Picked up for the big reveal midway and the finale was pretty decent. It seemed to do that Succession “yeah, no, but” chat thing but not very well and most scenes just seemed to drag on.

The Five-Star Weekend was at least two episodes two long. I know it has done well and I've just seen it has been renewed, but I'm not sure I need to see more of these characters.

I've started Possession on Sky. So far I am intrigued.

We won't be subjected to Mrs Brown's Boys this Christmas and New Year

@FetchFugly The new series of Bookish starts next week

Bookish is basically a post WW2 cosy‑crime show about a sharp, quietly queer bookseller / detective who can spot a lie at twenty paces. He moves through these theatrical little murder scenes — libraries, theatres, séance rooms — peeling back everyone’s performances while keeping up his own lavender marriage for social convenience.

Adults on Disney+. One of those things I meant to watch at the time and didn't get round to. It feels like a less PG update to the friend group type comedies, quite good fun. The new season starts next week.

I started talking about my fascination with Bertrada of Laon with a hot guy I'm getting far too carried away with for my own good, and he recommended Wheel of Time (2021-25) as apparently it focuses mostly on women. So...

I am watching:

Wheel of Time. Starting now.

Oh I'm liking it. It's giving Xena meets The Hobbit, like a lost and restored channel 5 90s poster series. Onto episode 2 after I make a coffee.

So I am just catching up with watching The Dark which I think everyone was talking about a few weeks/month ago. OMG I love it, the end of the first episode is absolutely CHILLING. Doesn't help I am watching it about midnight each night. Windows get locked. Although I'm way too old to be targeted. On episode 4.

Just started The F Ward. Australian medical dramedy randomly starring Anna Friel.
This is actually very good! On the last episode now.

Has anyone seen Van der Valk, was gonna give it a go
I watched my first episode of it last week. It was the last one of the current series, so the background stories were lost on me (and from what I saw, I didn't particularly care for any of the characters, except for Azan Ahmed as a fit sergeant), but as a crime drama, it was good.

Binged The Dark and now onto TIP-TOE - its so Russell T Davies by numbers so far, but I enjoyed the first episode.

The first story on Bookish didn't really grab me, but the characters are enough to make me continue.

I've binged the second season of Adults over the weekend. It is a step up from the first and kind of scratches a Gen Z Happy Endings itch.

Decided to wait til it got a bit more ‘cosy’ weather to watch this (if I can hold out)

I liked the second story much more. Looking forward to the third two parter as that promises to be something a bit different.

I've started New Zealand Spy, with Rose Matafeo and an Inbetweener. So far she hasn't got so much of a lead role as the promo suggested unfortunately.

Colin From Accounts is back on the BBC this week, so looking forward to that.

Finished Widow's Bay last night. I enjoyed it (although felt it peaked mid run), but can't quite see why it deserved all the plaudits it got.

Re-watch of season 3 of the diplomat ahead of season 4.
For All Mankind season 5 slooooowly - it's getting duller each season.
Dark Matter season 2 - knew it would get wildly convoluted but enjoying the re-focus on other characters this season.
Ludwig season 2 - only 1 in - need to re-start.
Dragrace UK
Slow Horses 6
Youth

with Celebrity Traitors, Kill Jackie and War likely to be added this week.

glad to have gotten to the end of Sewing Bee though - I really find Sophie Willan in this performative and fake.

I didn't like this series of Ludwig so much.

The opening couple of episodes of Slow Horses have been as hugely enjoyable as ever. I watched the first episode of Youth last night and really enjoyed it - very funny. The absolute nightmare of a son!

first ep of the new C4 romcom/anti romcom Break Clause was cute although the actual breakup was a bit stupid. a few SNL uk peeps in there. I'll give it a few more eps for sure.

I've seen the first couple and thought the second episode was better and funnier, once the set up was out of the way.

I saw a very short clip of that and felt I couldn’t get over the vocal fry to even consider watching

I'm fascinated by the endurance of ITV's Cooking with the Stars, which has started its SIXTH series and seemingly survived being moved to Mondays and chopped to half an hour (it now resembles an extended M&S advert). I love the coy mentions of where they've bought their ingredients from and I felt very moved when Caroline Quentin tearfully survived the cook-off.

I am going to get involved with the new season of Time. Jimmy McGovern is a fabulous writer.

Low key obsessed with The Real Rooneys being not very real at all. Each episode has a lovely pretend story arc where they go and do something becasue someone in the family needs it.

Wayne and Colleen need some time alone so they go for an episode friendly trip Scotland with activities!

One of the boys apparently loves WWII (but never says this on camera) so they go to Poland!

Kai has been given a scholarship at Man U so they need a holiday in Portugal!
