The reason I suggested this is because we're showing up in the Google AI summary when people search for 'celebrity name' + TERF.

Just to clarify - I wasn't imagining Marina or any celebriTERFS turning up - I was imagining their proletariat minions showing up and piling on. And/or drawing attention to us on socials - especially if we 'mistreat' them.

You've got to imagine that most of them know their way around a forum - huge numbers of them are on Mumsnet after all!
 
I think I naively assumed a Marina Hyde doesn't HAVE minions. And the ones that do (Rowling / even Murphy) have too much other noise for Moopy to be a quoted source.

But I am happy to stand corrected, because the Mumsnet "DH" fear is REAL. Lock the doors!
 
Mumsnet is such an obvious target for TERFs. Most of them already have their venom spaces. I'm not especially worried, but again, it's something to be aware of.

Any strangers expressing anti-trans views should be instantly banned. Add genocide deniers to that list.

Firstly, thank you, glad to know you're all on the same side :)

Basically, I was looking for a list of trans allies on Google and I found this list, which is a good list of who to like and who to avoid. I frequently check to see if any other names are mentioned.
 
The other thing worth considering is who is liable if somebody on the TERF list sees it as libel?

The head TATTELFRAU got into all sorts of legal bother because of things posted on his forum.
 
Reading behind the lines on Popjustice (rip), you did get the sense that a certain popstar had HAD A WORD.

you didn't have to read between the lines. there were no images of any kind allowed to be posted of Taylor Swift, not even embeds with artwork or anything. there had clearly been legal threats about memes or something (forgive the week-late response to a question)
 
I see Marina Hyde has been promoted to the TERF list, which has got me wondering exactly what the bar is for this.

Don't get me wrong, I have seen and heard enough of what she's said at various points for me to personally be satisfied that she is one, but if we're keeping this public and accessible as a resource (which I do believe it should be) then shouldn't we be able to back it up with something very specific the people on the list has said about the trans community so we're not on shaky ground?
 
It's not enough that she said ** ***ling should be PM because she's principled and brave?
 
I'm aware of what she said, and I think most of us are clued in enough to know what it means, but I just figure if we're putting something like this out there it shouldn't have stuff that's plausibly deniable on there. I don't think that's the case for most of the other entries.

I don't think there is any ambiguity or plausible deniability for Marina.

JK has made being a TERF her entire personality. Someone then saying "she should be PM" feels very unequivocal. Especially for a Guardian journalist - she can't exactly feign ignorance that JK isn't still just that nice Harry Potter lady.

If she isn't a TERF, then she's a STUPID IGNORANT HALFWIT WHO NEEDS TO READ THE NEWS ONCE IN A WHILE

Having successfully defended against a defamation threat from a proper lawyer with the power of google and a bit of chatgpt it isnt going to happen, based on my limited experience admittedly.

Firstly, a claimant has to prove that any defamatory content has damaged or is likely to significantly damage their income and even then they have to follow a pre action protocol which can see off any court intervention really easily.

A single allegation on a fairly low traffic website in the grand scheme of things isnt going to cause anyone on the last to suffer career ending damage
