Theatre 2026 (2 Viewers)

Just back from seeing ‘Letter to Brezhnev’ (matinee 👴🏻 )

If you love the film, I’d recommend going to see the live show. Apparently Margi Clarke was spotted, but take that with a pinch of salt.

I hope it tours, but it’s definitely loved in Liverpool.
I was wondering why there were ladies talking about a 40-year-old film on the train today!

I’d sit through 85 mins of Tilda taking a shit, filing this under one of Ellie’s NUMEROUS bad takes.
“85 minutes of Tilda taking a shit” isn’t actually too far off from what it was. SHE was fine. The material was terrible. Also couldn’t work out why this German play set in Germany was being narrated in a Cockney accent.

We described it as like one of those pretentious late night movies on Channel 4 in the 80s and 90s, but worse.

The INSINUATION that Tilda's so constipated it would take her 85 minutes to curl one out

I saw Martin Guerre last night for free (they had a £15 ticket code and I needed to cash in some Old Vic loyalty points anyway), otherwise I probably wouldn’t have gone.

Lovely performances but I couldn’t make head nor tail over what it was actually about, until they end when I realised that the Richard Gere and Jodie Foster film Sommersby was based on it. I wish I knew beforehand. But it was 90 minutes all the way through so didn’t outstay its welcome.

I’m off work from today for the London Film Festival, but no films today, so I saw this:

Thoroughly recommended! What a lovely little revue, and Shona McGarty fit right in with all of the theatre veterans - and even included Anita Dobson’s Anyone Can Fall In Love in the end medley :D

There’s a guest performer with every show and we got Michael Ball singing Love Changes Everything :disco: To say this was a childhood dream is a bit of an understatement

I was clearly the youngest person there, but probably enjoyed it more than anyone else.

Does anybody have any insider info on when The Lost Boys is opening on West End? I’ve been listening to the soundtrack and

Got tickets to see Titanique again because I really wanted to see Myra DuBois, and her understudy is on :(

The cast generally is a lot weaker than the last one I saw as well. Celine though still absolutely amazing.

Bought theatre tickets for a friend last month and she hasn’t been very forthcoming with paying me back. So today I was like, can you send me £85 when you get a sec, and she’s like OF COURSE! Then a few hours later sends me £83! Is she doing this on purpose because she’s assuming I won’t ask for the missing £2? Should I point this out? I don’t need £2 but this feels like a STUNT!?

I kind of ended a friendship over this.

Because then on the night of the show I went to see her for drinks beforehand and just assumed she would bring up payment but never did. Only when I got home did I realise I had paid for two bottles of wine and both tickets with no mention of payment

I wouldn’t mind but her father-in-law is literally in the Epstein files.
I want the goss, but dropping occasional bits of lore like this every hour or so is fun. :disco:

If it were me I'd text back pass ag and say haha you only paid me 83 but it was meant to be 85 haha did you mistype haha and let her stew in the awkwardness.

She's also clearly unhinged and I'm dying to hear more.

Don’t think I’ve ever seen her bring wine to a dinner party either. She was of course the one to host the sad sober traitors viewing party where no one brought booze. She seemingly surrounds herself with MISERS so probably think this kind of behaviour is normal.

Genuinely can't decide if she's iconic or the worst woman in the world. I guess both things can be true :disco:

We got the National Theatre at home thing. Think it’ll be a slog though because when you can get up and make toast you are never as invested as being there.

That sounds just like my auntie when SHE suggests going somewhere with my mum. She owns 3 houses and my mum is in a one bedroom flat, but mum is always stuck with the bill.

With my regular theatre companions, it generally always works out in the end with who pays for what, and when it feels a bit uneven, we’ll sit down and work it out. With the less regular companions, they tend to pay right away.

If it were Four In A Bed, you’d be fine with that. Maybe there was a stray pube on the theatre seat.

Could just tell her outright? “You’re actually £2 short - just buy me a coffee next time!”

Is that still cunty?

She must need the money as she’s off on a 3 week hooneymoon next week. Obviously her father-in-law has arranged for them to stay on an estate on an island of a friend of his (no not that one).

Nothing beyond Patrick Wilson who’s a producer saying they intend to. I’d guess the next year or two.

Loved it on Broadway. The staging is jaw-dropping and the music is great, Belong To Someone, Wild and If We Make It Through The Night being my personal favourite wailalongs :disco:
