The Dutch group have had a good run, but there was only room in the Final for two. They leave the competition in a very respectable 3rd place.

The exciting Final is upon us now, and we have quite the two pole opposites facing off.
On one hand, we have Blondie with "Maria":
- Formed in New York
- This marked their comeback as their last UK number one had been in 1980, and their first new single/album (not counting remixes) since 1982.
- The song was written by former keyboardist of the group Jimmy Destri.
- Lead singer Debbie Harry was 53 years old when "Maria" was released.
On the other hand, we have Britney Spears with "...Baby One More Time":
- Born in Missisippi
- This was her first single as a solo artist (having starting in Club Mickey Mouse) and as a result her first number one in the UK.
- The song was written by Swedish hitmaker Max Martin.
- Britney was 16 years old (17 once it hit number 1 in the UK) when "...Baby One More Time" was released.
