2022 Midterm Elections (US)

Florida is fascinating, if awful. He even won in Miami-Dade (although going by the dipshits I met on South Beach last month, perhaps no surprise).

Reading through, this isn't...that...bad? Some good key wins. Nice that Dr Oz gets to fuck off home and cry.

Red on red violence please.
As if by magic

Unless he decides to step aside for health reasons, Biden is much, much more likely to re-run now. He's done incredibly well!

It's not really him, as much it's not Trump. That's like saying Starmer has caused the boost for the Labour.

There isn't an obvious candidate snapping at Biden's heels at all, which also helps his case.

Kamala Harris has a strong base among women and black voters, but she's also not terribly well liked across the board.
Pete Buttigeg has raised his profile in the past couple of years, but his appeal to black voters is virtually nonexistant, and an openly gay President may be a bridge too far.

Probably more for 2028 than 2024, but I'd look at some of the Dem candidates who did particularly well tonight. Josh Shapiro is very much a rising star. Gavin Newsom has been very strong in California despite major opposition. With Bernie Sanders very unlikely to run again, Elizabeth Warren could also make another run as the candidate of the left, though there's a sense that her moment has passed.

Oh and a dark horse might be Wes Moore, who just got elected as the first black Senator in Maryland. He's too inexperienced to be a serious candidate now, but I'd definitely have him on my watch list for the longer term. He's relatively young (44) very eloquent and winning a lot of praise for how he ran his campaign.

Someone PLEASE talk her into it (not that it'd take much :tongueout:), it would be hysterical.

Though if we're talking people who've tried in the past, how about ORB QUEEN Marianne Williamson? 🔮

With DeSantis presenting the serious risk of a first Italian-American president and Trump flopping last night, I'm backing The Notorious MTG for the Republican nomination. Defund the FBI! 👁️

Meltdown en route from Mar-a-Lago.

Yes but it's like watching an old codger and the nephew he never liked having a brawl at a family wake. That is to say, very entertaining but with a worrying prospect that it could spill over and the whole pub destroyed in the melee.

They keep showing footage of the Georgian candidates giving speeches - is Walker always that SWEATY?

Voters in Kentucky have said "no" to a constitutional amendment that would have explicitly removed abortion rights from the constitution, Associated Press news agency is reporting.

States that could have lost abortion rights but didn’t: Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, North Carolina (one of the few places you can still get an abortion in the south so very important)

Did anywhere go the other way?

The dawning realization that in the giddy surety of a Red Tsunami and total impunity, publicly laughing and celebrating over an 82 year-old man getting bludgeoned in his home might have been alienating to Stacy Soccer Mom.
