2022 Midterm Elections (US)

My sister and her kids live in Arizona and she was really really worried about Kari Lake winning

In better news, the fake Democrat Katy Perry made a fool of herself over flopped.

Not that I'm plotting anything but what if one of the 100s of reps in the House dies over the next two years? Is it the state governor that replaces them?

Nancy Pelosi officially confirms she won't stay on as the Minority House leader. She's a highly divisive figure and it's definitely time for some fresh blood, but she undeniably achieved a great deal in her time.

I remain utterly fascinated by Kari Lake, thankfully with an OCEAN of comfort parting us. She really reminds me of Mom from Futurama?
As a Brit, I can't quite believe she exists as a politician.

Her wikipedia page is QUITE the read for anybody unfamiliar. She went from being an Obama-supporting Democrat Buddhist, to a far-right Republican ultra-Christian?
And it all seems to have started around the time of the pandemic :eyes: I'm also into somebody editing this sentence to her entry (surely a former colleague :D) "Lake's statements and actions made her a divisive figure among colleagues in her last years at the station" translation: she's a total cunt :D

Anyway, bananas and terrifying. That what she says, and what she intends to do are two completely different things is chilling to me.
Throw the word FREEDOM around as much as possible, yet campaign on one of the most transparently anti-democracy platforms US politics has surely ever seen.

I saw some tweet I can’t find now that said that Arizona wants to be a Republican state but the Republican Party of Arizona won’t let them and its so true

But it has put people off. The republicans way underperformed and a lot of it has to do with the unlikeable people they nominated and the stupid shit they keep trying to pull

Not that I can really fathom why someone would split their ticket, but I get that some do it

It seems a curious problem that US election results are not implemented immediately.

I know the UK isn't perfect, but we quite literally count 40m paper votes overnight and Pickfords are outside Number 10 before lunch.
