MORNING MOOPY!

I've done a spin class, cross trained for 25 minutes after and now I'm sat at my desk, absolutely exhausted :D

Day off. Just up. Brekkie, try the Stereolab reunion tour presale then...I dunno, sky looks a bit too ominous to consider going outside or anything...

Grey here too, but I'm going to take myself out for a walk at lunchtime. I'm forcing myself to have a proper lunch break at least once a week- which I know is KINDA ridiculous... :D

I barely have lunch in my current job. What have I become?

An idiot. Like me.

I'm entirely done with working my arse off for an arsehole who doesn't appreciate me. Fuck working through lunch, working late. There's more to life.

I feel terrible today. Last night’s gentleman caller has given me his cold.

On my way to London to drink 40 pints of beer. Resisting temptation to drink one on the train.

Having a beer now would basically be like stretching before you exercise. You should go for it.

I love how @Star got all 'yeah, fuck you' at work after having baby Kylie, whereas before she'd nail herself to a cross almost daily.

We may all like to think we matter, but if you work for a big company, you're just a replaceable resource.

Don't get me wrong, I sometimes have to forget about lunch as well, but I'll make sure I take it back in a two hour lunch or by sacking off early another day. And I relish the possibility of being questioned on it.

I take your point, but the thing is, I've transformed this company- which was turning over £400k in 2011 and is now doing £3.5 million- from a micro business to a real player in the market and I have built up some amazing client relationships. There is most certainly no one within the business who could take over currently. So I do take your point, but I don't think I'm *that* replaceable. Not easily, anyway.

As for the "Big company" thing, I work for one man, who is just an arse. I so want out of this dump but I can't see a way to do it currently. If only I could get a lottery win- just a little one- and fuck off and set up on my own, my god. It's the DREAM WE ALL DREAM OF, FOLKS!

To put it into context, my company is part of a group of companies and in December 2017, he basically removed the Group Managing Director and has, since then:

1. Refused to promote anyone to Group MD as he wants a "flat management structure" (in other words to save the salary)
2. Given all the individual company MDs (myself included) loads more work and responsibility with no extra pay
3. Bought another company which I identified, did a year's work of negotiation with and closed the deal (the last part alongside him), seeing me take on the responsibility for 15 more staff and 1 million Euro turnover and at the end of it all, having throughout said "We'll look at your remuneration when the deal is closed", said "No, you don't deserve a pay rise, you're paid enough as it is"
4. Stopped the annual 3% pay increase which we've had for 20 years (this year it's 2%, last year it was a 2% bonus so he didn't have to increase salaries or pay pension contributions on it)
5. Removed health insurance as a benefit (it's non-contractual, so he can)
6. Sacked the external accountants we used, not replaced them, and just told our accounts department to "do it themselves", again, for no money or with any additional resource
7. Despite all the above, on Tuesday, he refused a proposed 5% salary increase for the Directors flat, despite the cost being a drop in the ocean compared to everything above

Oh and note all the companies are doing brilliantly! Sorry, I think you touched a nerve. :D

BAH!

It sounds like you may well not be easily replaceable. But if you're doing all you say you're doing and not being treated like it, then it pretty much makes no difference.

Oh THAT much I agree with entirely!

Oh I just do bare minimum these days. I'm supposed to do 9 to 5 but most days with traffic I get in around 9:20am and by 4:30pm I'm wrapping up. Plus I currently need regular breaks in my condition :)

But yeah totally over the big companies/ franchises. When we chose a nursery I rejected the franchises because of my experience working for one. We went for a family run one and they're just so amazing.

Thing is, I (generally) work my arse off. I forgot to mention I regularly get disturbed in the evening/ weekends/ on fucking holiday by the boss (and to an extent by my biggest client as well).

When I'm KING, I'm going to be NICE to people.

I only stopped working so hard when I got nothing for it. Never push a loyal person to the point they don't care anymore as they say...

KER-CHING

I've done fuck all today because I'm not in the mood following this week's NONSENSE. A complete lack of motivation. How people don't see that is beyond me...

Well quite. I don't do much these days because WHY FUCKING BOTHER when all you get is being PATRONIZED by somebody who ALWAYS GETS THEIR OWN WAY because they had the FORESIGHT to MARRY the BOSS

I tell you something, and bear in mind, this is me talking, I wouldn't sleep with THIS boss if he fucking paid me.

AND HE DOES.

@Sheena. How long were the builders in doing your bathroom? I really must get mine sorted and funnily enough it's pretty much exactly the same size & layout as yours (though with a bath instead of the double shower). UGH at builders in my flat though...

Mine had a bath previously!

Took 8 full days, but we did "lose" a day and a half in the middle of that because of an unforeseen shower-related incident, so generally it should have been done in about a week.

Octy you really need a random Fall musings thread

I had a whole blog for 'em a few years back!

Part of me does want to write about music again but I don't think I'd inflict it on Moopy.
