A Journey Through SAW

I'm definitely binging the bonus material at a later date too.

I was a little surprised they didn't devote a whole episode to Hand on Your Heart though generally the pacing is about right. They understandably seem to be spreading the singles a little more thinly than at the start, but a whole episode for one of the charity records or singles three and four from an album isn't needed.
 
Despite having the Hit Factory 2 on vinyl I never paid that much attention at the time to Tell Him I Called, but it is a bit of a tune.

It also made a bit of a change on the podcast as SAW were very much in their pop for the kids era (as good as some of it was).

Interesting and quite surprising that Sonia has apparently resisted their overtures.
 
Sonia’s probably embarrassed that she started demanding millions from SAW during discussions about a second album and they told her to hop it OR WHATEVER THE STORY WAS
 
It’s a shame there was never a second PWL album as she’s one of my favourite SAW voices but at least we got Only Fools :disco:
 
I’d always assumed that the Sonia album would be a bit cack so never paid it any mind for years but bought the Cherry Red reissue (along with Mandy) and was taken aback that it was a solidly good start to finish effort.

Didn’t she demand a house for her parents too? Anyone would think she was penning and producing the tracks.

At least the Sonia single and album covers weren’t those cheap blurred messes with that horrible font which those cheapskates at PWL insisted on dishing up. Thank God for Chrysalis :disco:
 
Hand On Your Heart and Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi particularly wretched from memory. Also Nothing Can Divide Us :gross:

I have a bit of a soft spot for the second Sonia album, probably because I had that as a child and not the PWL one. I'm certainly not convinced she would have got a better lead single from them than Only Fools in 1991.

Saying that, you do have to have a fondness for a Motown pastiche as they went to that particular well multiple times.

I was disappointed that this more recent effort didn’t generate more chat on here. I think it’s utterly FANTASTIQUE and highly stirring (something to do with the key and chord progressions I suspect :disco:)

 
I know nobody was really there for a mature Sonia direction but Used To Be My Love is a bit of a SULTRY SON GEM on the side:

This exciting Sonia gossip has reminded me that her fourth cancelled-due-to-complete-lack-of-interest-by-anyone album is due to be remastered and released in summer. An essential purchase for the LOONS.

Oh DEFINITELY! However, in an odd turn of events after the release of "A Night That's Never Ending", Sonia promptly announced that she would be doing no further recording despite having studio time booked. Perhaps she heard this SAW style remix and got PWL PTSD. It might explain her reluctance to take part in the podcast. I can't imagine ANOTHER Energise tote bag scandal.

They've finally made it to Better The Devil You Know, which they are doing as a two parter for song and video.

I've listened to the first bit of part one released today. They've got Terry Blamey on and he definitely speaks frankly.
 
Listening to the Jason D episode - I had no idea he was filming the bits shot in the garden in Wouldn't Change A Thing! :o
 
Mike Stock still seems to resent the change of direction on Rhythm Of Love.
 
:D at Pete Hammond taking ALL the credit for Better The Devil You Know and then complaining that no one acknowledged his work on it.
