A prequel which actually feels earned, considering where the first film kicked off:

It's ultimately missable and I'll have forgotten I ever saw it in 6 months' time, BUT I did enjoy it very much. Mostly due to:

- likeable, less generic leads (Lupita Nyong'o and Joseph Quinn)
- lots of (destroyed) New York City porn shots
- an easy watch, I barely had to think once!
- only 95 minutes

If you can read "Day One" in anything other than Marcus Bentley's voice then you're a different person to me

Everytime I see the trailer for this all I can think is "Lupita Nyong'o has an OSCAR".

Jordan Peele aside, Hollywood really did that girl dirty.

Yeah isn't this only her SECOND LEAD ROLE (with Us being the first) after the Oscar win a decade ago? Fucking hell.

And even here she's playing someone who's (minor spoiler) terminally ill and surely won't be back for the sequel whether the monsters get her or not, which I'm not sure they'd do with Sandra Bullock or Jennifer Laurence
