Oh, I don't know how anyone could tweet and moop at the same time...I wouldn't want to get drawn into the the "official" twitter thing anyway, not with some of my opinions. :D
 
As Tische said, the only good thing about the Eurovision again is that the EBU upload a decent quality stream of the show and cos it starts exactly at 8, we're all in sync
 
I’ve updated the timetable as follows. I’ve edited some out based on what will eventually be on the Saturday EurovisionRewatches, so we don’t need to worry about crossover.

I’ve put 2007 in two consecutive days because the 2007 semi is extraordinarily long and we lose about 17 songs from it for the final, so we may as well watch both. Any strong objection and we can change. I’ve added @Alla ’s idea of Melfest watches too, starting with the suggestion of 2009.

well, I’m just adding everyone’s ideas to the planning board without prejudice. I personally don’t mind watching Melfest, it’s all good to me.

what do other people think about adding Melodifestivalen finals if we can get them?

I'm also here for the classic Melfests. Is it worth keeping some of those for June too, seeing as we're likely to still be in this situation until then?

I agree that Melfest to my ears is usually more quality over quantity compared to ESC.

I personally think it’s worth giving it a timeslot to see what happens. The world of Eurovision is wider and larger than just the contest on the night itself. If it doesn’t work for whatever reason then we can rethink, but I feel like everyone’s wants and desires for a rewatch should be given a GO.
 
Some of the euroqueens that are not aware of MF quality should give it a try, some finals from the golden era are much better than you can imagine. I beg you give this a chance, you won't be disappointed.
 
I love Melfest, but Eurovision really is it's own unique beast. I'd suggest having Melfest finals as an optional extra rather than a replacement.

I mean let's face it girls, we're not exactly short of time.
 
Considering most of us are usually drunk anyway I doubt the quality matters too much, as you don’t tend to remember any of it the next day :D
 
I say no to Melodifestival personally. Or at least it should be an extra, not an alternative.

I think that's probably the best idea. I don't doubt the quality - it's just a very different beast, as VoR says.

Stick one out after the main event. Or at a different time. I don't want to stop anyone doing it, I just don't think it should be an alternative to the ESC for the Saturday or Wednesday slot. At least at this stage.
 
Okay, so as a compromise, I’ll add Melodifestivalen 2009 after next week’s Wednesday contest (2002) ?
I think it’s good to Pre-plan some after-show viewing as there is clearly a demand for it.

Late night is absolutely fine.

These rewatches are huge trade for us. I wonder what else we could do beyond Eurovision. Live shows is the obvious way to go seeing the response to the Madonna one.

I think running it as a later one is a good idea, and hopefully it can also help allay the concerns some people have about us burning through the ESCs too quickly.
 
The ESC rewatches made Cicciolino post after some time lurking, so more ideas like this might bring more new people here.

Maybe some of the theatre productions that have been made available? Although with most of those I guess you're supposed to be engrossed and not distracted by posting.
 
The first season of Drag Race Thailand is FANTASTIC and most of you didn't give it a chance yet. Just saying.
 
Disgusted by the level of Mellophobia in this chat lounge, but glad a compromise has been reached.
I've no doubt Mello rewatch evenings will become a thing in their own right soon, if 2009 turns out to be too rich for the blood of the drunken HOI POLLOI later.
