A Saturday two years in the making

I’m imagining a kitchen like a murder scene. Is Mr RoM a BUTCHER?

At the end of the day it's just a rat. It wasn't your pet rat, it was a dirty vermin that could've been carrying all kinds of germs and could have hurt your little dog. You spent six hours trying to remove it humanely, it chose not to go so the rat was actually the architect of its own demise.

Now pour yourself a stiff drink and get the place ready for your Eurovision party!

I love you Floppet :(

Yes, this was my concern. It was the kitchen and obviously likely to spread whatever nasties. Rats also don't just attack, but if cornered they will retaliate and that was a concern with a dog around.

It wasn't a VALUE THING, more a BETWEEN HOW MANY PEOPLE?!

I was joking.

There’s four of us. But I imagine we’ll only open a couple and I’ll move onto gin.

HEALTH HEALTH HEALTH

I am also hitting the GIN tonight. Not because of health reasons, but I really fancy a GOOD GIN.

I have two bottles of wine and three gin tins ALL TO MYSELF.

I expect to be utterly CUNTED!

Well I’ve had a lovely day driving around the south of England listening to former Eurovision hits, occasionally stopping at a charity shop (six albums bought today) and, yes, ending the day balls deep in some slut at a services on the A22.

I’ve bought six bottles of champagne and I intend to be drunk very, very shortly,

Hope you got one of them 'Buy 6 bottles get 25% off' deals

Actually, I don't think you're allowed to release them once they have been caught in a humane trap. They're vermin, so I think that legally you have to finish them off.

Oh that's interesting. Makes sense

I'm not sure it takes the horror away from hearing a huge but very cute rat DYING as it's STABBED TO DEATH, which I sit here complaining about but more or less passively agreed to, but it's a START

@Raining On Me are you SURE there was only one? They breed like, er....RATS.

I think so because it came up an old disused pipe (which we've just blocked) and plopped into the kitchen. It never went back into that pipe but into several other holes etc.

I mean, obviously I don't know for sure, and every floorboard creak and movement sounds like a rat now...

I know you can't release black rats or grey squirrels back into the wild. I have a (not in use) squirrel cage-trap in my loft but decided against using it when I discovered that I'd have to humanely kill the squirrel. I've killed mice and rats over the years but a squirrel was a step too far, luckily it found its way back out a couple of days later and I was able to block up the hole under the eaves where it had got in.

Just hope for the best. I’m not surprised you are TRAUMATISED. Just reading about it has made me reach for the gin.

I should probably stop listening to Radio 2 and get ready :D:disco:

Oh :( The Vengabus has literally just arrived next door, I wonder if Eurovision is a thing for them! Mind you, it's any excuse for a party round there.
I'm basically GOING ELSEWHERE just so I can keep away from the LOCAL TOSSERS

There is a RAT in my kitchen :gross: This has never happened before. I think it came in yesterday and after much bravery I have found a hole next to a pipe where it clearly got in. It's fucking HUGE, like a mouse x20.

I have been in a battle now for nearly 6 hours where I've shrieked, flapped my hands in a manly fashion, and been continuously outsmarted by this beast.

I tried shoving it out the door with a broom, and it squealed loudly and JUMPED towards me. Every other time it avoids the exit at all costs and keeps running back and forth between the hole in the wall, a hole in the back of the washing machine (!) and the freezer. Then, 15 minutes later, it comes out again, taunting me with its infuriatingly cute face. All day.

Mr RoM is on his way home on a mission to kill it which frankly I can't face. I did nearly drop a pumpkin on it but I just CAN'T.

I'm only bothering to relay this because I'm stood in the kitchen keeping watch. It's the first day of my week off and we're having people around for Eurovision ANY MINUTE NOW, FFS :gross:
