the Japanese do too, this is a certified banger, and by certified, I mean it was the No.1 song of its year and has twice as many views as the next song in this selection.
Not that means it’s good or bad, but I thought I should enter something I like, since my track record of getting Moopy to like, listen or even acknowledge Japanese music is totally zero

did anyone else in this contest get SCOLDED?

EVERYBODY at some point :D Of course you have to send something you like, I meant that I wish you have submitted something that did better with the ruthless Moopy juries. But who knows!

Do you not like Ayumi Hamasaki? What is she up to these days? I imagine the homosexuals here would have taken well to her.

I love Ayu (until about 2008...), she was my gateway drug to J-Pop, her and Utada Hikaru. I was curious after they had an album chart battle, and both sold like 3 million copies each in a WEEK. I wanted to investigate, and just found this sort of Japanese Britney with these bangers and expensive videos.

I had considered entering one of hers, but I don’t really know anything recent, and most of her videos on YouTube are clipped to a minute or so.

in fact my J Soul Brothers entry has a :disco: outro but that is clipped off too, someone commented that it finishes abruptly

have your fill, Barbara, despite only showing half of most of her music videos, Avex uploaded so many of her bizarre live concerts.

I enjoyed one of her many GH tours the other night, even if her vocals are more vocaloid than anything. Her dancers are the gayest too. There was some (I’m assuming) non-binary MC in the last one
 
Is the problem that I entered a Male-vocal entry? :eyes: because I was going to enter an AC hit, or even a rock one :disco:

I’m genre non-binary in Japan, it turns out

Is that J-Pop? Haha... it’s a bit out there for her, it was her first English language album. Please check out Exodus if you can, it’s great!

her second English album was a bit of a flop (dare I say deserved), just sort of RnB lite pop, nothing special

Given what I submitted, I don't even have to answer. :side-eye: I just didn't like the song that much :shy: but hey, most of Moopy hated mine, something that I knew it would happen and that didn't stop me from sending that amazing song. Only knowing ButterTart loved it is already worth it.

fair point, even though without the guitars it’s basically Alcazar covering Lordi :D

It is VERY MF indeed, great chorus and very 80s, it ticks all the boxes with me. I loved the shock during the reveal and everyone thinking I was trolling :D They must think I only listen ESC and MF stuff, when I actually don't at all (almost). If they only knew... :)

Glad to know that! You don't submit hard rock here to win, but very happy some people discovered it and enjoyed it, already worth it.
Similar to Bailando, without a doubt the highlight of this game for me, no matter how well it does. Very popular here in Spain, but glad so many people that didn't know it loved it, that's what ASFM is about.

I liked your song too! In fact, there were few, if any that I actively disliked.

I loved it at the time but i too preferred to favour the more obscure / unknown songs and not something I've played to death over the years.I'm glad most entries weren't hits or from from artists who have had huge success.

Would anyone object if I presented the results throughout the day? Logistically doing it all this evening is going to be a nightmare for me.

I think that's a great idea; the only risk is disappointing anyone who has planned around 7pm and doesn't log in to Moopy to see the change of plan before then.

Alternatively if it's just volume of results you're concerned about, you could spread the results across multiple evenings - it's your contest, it's your prerogative.
 
I'll await and see what others think. Obviously I want to do it as promised, but it's not even my laptop.
