The bland ones are always the glue holding the show together. They’re a comfort break between the interesting songs or, in the case of Solange, such a long comfort break that I was able to pass my Prince 2 and be promoted to Regional Operational Delivery Manager with Network Rail before she’d reached what I assume was the last chorus.

I have a proud and almost unbroken record of never voting for the winner :disco:

The Solange song is just my go-to for this round. There are more deserving targets, not least that last song from semi 2. Never have a Bontempi and eight hours of studio time been used to less effect.
 
I love the Chromeo/Solange one, but I've known it for years so might send my votes to stuff that's newer to my ears.
 
I may have loved the songs less overall, but it was a brilliantly varied show. I don't think we've had that much diversity since the first one.

Yes it definitely felt like there were more genres being represented and fewer songs with a BIG POP CHORUS this time.
 
Listening to Foreign Affair again and I absolutely love the bit around 0:50 where she asks ‘can you turn into a teacup? Feel the force of my lintel?’
Such avant garde songwriting.
 
I honestly think the gap between shows helped. Otherwise whatever did well in the previous show is still fresh in people's minds.
 
Reading this back, to be fair to @VoR we had the benefit of watching the videos as well. Some of these songs work better with the visuals. I’d recommend giving them a watch too.

In what I think is the quickest ever turnaround time for me in one of these contests, I have voted! No time for dithering, just time for ruthlessness.
 
I’ve listened to the Spotify playlist the past two nights before going to sleep… and by that I mean the first three songs because by song 4 I’m gone.

I disagree with this! Not every good song has to have a big pop chorus. We are a varied group of people on a varied forum, yes there are general themes of genres that people like, but not everything has to fit a template. Now I won't vote for any weird bleepy shit, but I prefer it being unpredictable ENOUGH that we never really know where the points might come from.

Otherwise the contest becomes more BEIGE than the songs you're moaning about!
 
This is probably the strongest contest since Iguanavision for me! It’s going to take me a while to ponder over my SHORTLIST but I think one song in particular is emerging as the fave Chez Soldi.
 
I'm down to 25 and I'm pretty sure my top 12 is solid so that's 13 fighting it out for the last three spots. :basil:
 
Yeah my top 10 was pretty set in stone, but there were some RUTHLESS chops for the bottom 5.

Sad to have missed both viewing parties for the first time ever I think, but I've been so ill with the worst flu I think I've ever had (and not Covid) that I'm quite certain the "delights" of ASFM might have finished me off.

Needless to say I'm pleased it's business as usual with some right old shit on offer across the board, possibly more than ever. Thanks guys for helping me keep up my relatively strong streak in ASFM without even trying, you're the best 😘
 
Although seriously, I love listening to all these, for good or bad. And the effort @Suomi @HerSereneHighnessAnniFrid, my god. Such a great show, you've just given and given.

I also think I've probably dropped the ball and might semi-bomb. I had some good comments but I suspect among everything my song will be forgotten. I don't care though, I love it and will defend it passionately till the bitter end.
