I QUITE HONESTLY LOVE IT MORE THAN LIFE ITSELF

I've always been a sucker for NOSTALGIA

Though we never thought that we could LOSE
There's no REGRET

Rarely a track I deliberately put on, but always a treat when it pops up

I was obviously super drunk when I made this topic, but I had a proper moment to it. It pre-dates Alejandro, Mi Chico Latino and La Isla Bonita in white Latino pop!

We were YOUNG and FULL OF LIFE and none of us prepared to DIE
And I'm not ashamed to say
The roar of guns and cannons
Almost made me CRY

Of course, at the time I preferred this :D

Apparently featured in the new Stranger Things series. Not that I expect it do a Kate Bush, but happy it's in the mix.

It's lovely these long forgotten pop stars might get a bit of exposure.

Does anyone have its current daily Spotify play count so we can track whether it does have an impact?

I was wondering if Diana’s Upside Down might be the breakout of the series- it’s heavily used in episode 1 and over the credits.

I've been keeping an eye on it specifically since I first heard this rumoured. It's been doing around 140k - 170k daily, but yesterday kworb had it at 204k.

It's still The Winner Takes It All which is having a relative moment for them though - that's been increasing steadily from around 400k streams before summer to typically just over a million daily now. It had been fighting with Dancing Queen as their daily #1 for a few weeks, but now has been ahead of it every day for just over a week.

And just for further :geek: appeal, they are currently the #121 act on Spotify with 36.4m monthly listeners.

What gave TWTIA a boost?
Squid Game, apparently. I thought it was featured in it, but apparently it wasn't - it just got heavily used on TikTok following the last season dropping in the summer.

I don't watch the show, so do fill me in if anyone knows differently.

I do think Fernando is one of the absolute visual highlights of Voyage. It's done beautifully.

Possibly also worth adding that Cher's version of Fernando has 83m streams total, making it her overall #8. Super Trouper is her #7.

Her stats haven't updated since 19/11 on kworb, but then it was her #3 with 263m streams total, 105k daily.

Up to 291k, and their #6 daily.

Very early days. I also worry that it could struggle when the Christmas songs properly explode.

It was a delicious 80s horror moment. I love that their songs still retain something so fresh and arresting, often with the span of time seemingly adding to their allure. Fernando was just so resounding here.

I’m not caught up on Stranger Things yet, but of course nothing will ever top the way it’s used in Muriel’s Wedding.

Loved this in Stranger Things. Very camp. That whole scene was very:

This comes up as #10 on my daily feed for their top10...

I believe Spotify 'most popular' (that's what mine says, rather than 'daily') is over a period of a rolling week or something. Last week it was outside their daily top ten.

I fucking adore Fernando. what a song.

That makes more sense - The Winner Takes It All only overtook Dancing Queen on Spotify most popular last week, despite first toppling it daily about four or five weeks ago, then the lead going backwards and forwards, before TWTIA pulling away consistently about 2 weeks ago.
