They must be close to getting an age record for a no.1 album. A band of 70 year olds getting a no.1 with new material must be rare. Rolling Stones maybe, Madonna?
 
I wonder if this will be the last CD album to clear 100k in a week?

What else could possibly do it on that format?

The Rolling Stones did indeed reach pole position in 2016 with their covers album 'Blue & Lonesome'. Madge has a few more years left before she enters her 70's. I can't see her doing it to be honest. Kate Bush stands a better chance as she'll probably be 70 when she releases her new album.
 
How gratifying. Imagine if this had come out when album sales were still high. It would have probably sold half a million in a week.

Is that what it meant? I hoped as much, but the 'trend' but made me think it was some other sort of chart.

They have beaten The Stones record. At the time their average age was 72. Abba's average age is 74 :disco:

I think the trend is another chart but it is #1 on their year-end.
 
I've just realised a DISGUSTING FACT.

If Agnetha hits 100 years old, I'll be SEVENTY YEARS OLD.
 
It's kind of horrific that it's already #3 of the year but it must hold promise of decent final quarter for music sales.
 
With two Abba albums, Elton John and Diana Ross also in the top ten, it must be one of the charts with the highest average age. Radiohead are probably all in their 50s now, and Coldplay their 40s. I think Gregory Porter is about my age as well.
 
Mind you, it's not like Fleetwood Mac and Queen haven't been clogging up the album chart for ages as well. It's probably fairly usual these days.
 
I wonder if it's relatively just much less of a success in France than the UK and Germany, or if album sales are even more in the toilet there?
 
In the whole of France in one week 38,500 people bought an album and it reached number one. Did they even buy it? Do streams and downloads count over there?

I really miss the old way of doing the charts.
 
It says equivalent sales, so presumably streaming counts. And like Jark says, most weeks this year that total would get you the #1 in the UK as well.
