ABBA Voyage: The Concert Residency – CONTAINS MAJOR SET LIST SPOILERS

I'm still kind of waiting to see if anyone notices a pattern in terms of how they alternate Take A Chance On Me and Super Trouper. I may try going again around Christmas/New Year.
 
Tickets through to May 2026 now on sale through the Members Hub now, and general sale on Thursday.
 
Saw the new setlist additions last night for the first time.

Was relieved to be there on a Super Trouper evening and although the staging for it was fairly unremarkable it was a welcome addition and I liked how it segued into Mamma Mia.

Money Money Money looked fantastic and was an iconic Frida moment in a show already full of iconic Frida moments.

The new Don’t Shut Me Down arrangement was weird. They’ve given it a bouncier almost reggae-like beat??

I did miss When All Is Said And Done, and while I see why they ditched it in favour of a hit, I’m not sure The Name Of The Game really had the crowd on side all that much more. Whatever comes there is always going to be a bit of a dip after the space disco section.
 
Glad to hear it's still packing them in midweek! Were you tempted by any of the overpriced merch?
 
I have been 4 times - it has never not been glorious. With my husband, with friends, on my own, it's just a bang on undertaking and they absolutely delivered. Here's hoping if they do decide to finally do it elsewhere that they still keep the venue at Pudding Lane - it's going gangbusters I see no point to it moving on any time soon.
 
Presumably it'll be the planned housing that dictates when it moves on. The fact that for the last several extensions it's only been one month released at a time makes me think that the site isn't available longer than the short to medium term.

And there was an article I read the other week which said it's still playing to 95% capacity (which certainly fits with every time I've been), so I don't think the problem is with demand.
 
My favourite performances were probably Fernando and Summer Night City.

I think I'd like to try it again from the seats and sober.

Yes do it. I was standing the first time and enjoyed it much more sitting and taking it all in from higher up and appreciating all the lighting.

Then you will appreciate it even more sitting.

If you get in when they are first released (and December was released on Thursday), you'll get the cheap seats for £40. I've sat in those, and ones over triple the price, and there's little difference - I'd take the cheap ones every time.

Ah - I think it would be a mistake - I know we need housing, but, it's this massively positive money generating thing in the area and it would be a shame to lose it any time soon.
 
It always was earmarked for housing though. Voyage sits on a quarter of the site and was granted a five year temporary planning permit before it was constructed.

A developer was only chosen at the end of 2024. As much as it is bringing a huge amount to the local economy (over £2bn according to a report in December), I imagine a developer isn't so concerned with that, unless it gets some sort of hefty sweetener.
 
It's interesting that nobody else has gone all in on something similar yet - there have been bits and bobs, but this thing is just printing money - what's holding people back I wonder...

I think it will only really work for truly legendary, iconic acts that are still big in terms of sales/interest. The likes of Prince, Elvis, The Beatles, etc. I don't think it would be feasible for most artists. It would require massive investment too.

Being produced by Pophouse Entertainment who also paid $300m for all their catalogue, brand and intellectual property, and who were co-founded by Bjorn, so he's set to make even more if it's a hit.
 
Somebody should do a film about this raggle taggle bunch of middle aged ex superstars from 1990/91 and how they basically, against all odds, and by just nodding at various meetings to various bits of heritage management business, became the biggest and most successful band on the planet.
 
Went past on the DLR a few days ago and it does seem that the housing is taking some shape and starting to surround the arena, so I wonder if it’s on borrowed time in that location at this point.
 
Maybe 4 times will have to do then, and I did go once with Queen Anni-Frid in attendance when I accidentally got a ticket for a fan event off of Ticketmaster that apparently people had been pulling each others eyes out to go to. She wore ear protectors throughout and smiled a lot.
 
I'd definitely want to see it one last time before it closes at Pudding Mill Lane, unless they announce it moving elsewhere in London.

I'll wait to see if they extend it any more. I may book at date in January if so.
 
I’m going on Friday with my Belfast friends who are over for Hoopla. Can’t believe it’s taken me four years to coax them into coming.
 
Apart from anything else, we've not seen Take A Chance On Me yet :(

Limited summer time dance floor tickets for £50 and best seats £65 have been released. Looks like performances through to the end of August.
 
I've just booked to go again in late August. Got the £50 dance floor tickets. I'm not convinced if the £65 'selected best seats' deal is legit or not - the only ones that were that price when I looked were the ones at the very back at the sides that are often that price or cheaper anyway. The best seats were still £180 each.

It's booking until the end of February now. So if it isn't extended at all or much beyond that, I'll definitely be up for a final one.
 
Despite everything re the building works due and all I still think it would be complete and utter madness to make them vacate - just madness.
