Wait, Vicky the Vole is no more? Genuinely gutted. Farewell to a real one.

I always loved her popping up in music threads to piss on all our chips with a dowdy post, or going in to the DEAD threads for convicted mass murderers AND THE LIKE to post a sincere but half-arsed 'RIP' like my Auntie Cath on facebook.

The live threads addon has finally been updated to work with the new xenforo version, usefully after all the eurovision national finals have finished :nononono:
 
Vicky the Vole was harmless. I think it’s ok to have different posting styles - to a DEGREE.

You can skim past them without offence, they don’t seem to hinder the conversation… unlike OTHERS

I think they went in the HUFF after someone accused them of trolling. Then changed name and deleted their avatar. Very ZU behaviour tbh… 🤔

I hope not every single one of their posts had that harmless yet somehow carefully controversial quality to them. That would surely not be classic Vickzuarla would it. Glad not.

I will investigate why the server struggled tonight, see if I can figure out why. Wouldn't want this to happen on Saturday
 
My worry at this moment is that it is to do with the AI podcasts. Bob and Claire may be refreshing all their links at once, resulting in a spike of server requests that knock out the database briefly.

If you make a podcast could you delete the sources once you've downloaded the mp3 please?

I've also got in touch with the hosts to see if they have any ideas in case it is something entirely different.
 
The host got back very promptly, and thinks the culprit is AI bots, with an IP address from Google being the biggest offender :ToneNervous:

Fuck me, the robot uprising has started. First they came for moopy etc.
 
It’s happened to me at least twice today (but very quick each time).
 
I can always turn it off and we just deal with the occasional crash. I've only had the one check so far but I'm on my desktop pc so it's the ideal scenario for it. On your phone on the move I imagine will be more likely to ask frequently
 
The bots will be screwed if they’re trying to learn how to be more convincing human from us. Most of us can’t reliably manage it and we’ve been trying to act human for years.

If anyone still wants to play with it, it is a bit more of a hassle, but you can "print" webpages as pdf and upload those and it will work about as well.

Keeps continually cycling through the verification. Maybe I am a bot.

Oh, that isn't good.

I'll turn off the big guns then, I'd rather the occasional crash than there being real people not being able to log in
