Admin Requests (2 Viewers)

Atleast I have the balls to stand up to him. You all saw what happened to Fanny and you just sat back and watched
Most of us didn't see it until it was done. We watched the replay and, on a scale from a midweek rerun of Hollyoaks to Charlie Kirk's neck exploding, it wasn't much.

Isn't it time we had a mod election? At least a couple of them are barely here and it's always good to have a refresh.

It's not that it's a bad team, but I think part of our survival over 22 years is a democratically elected mods and admin team. Plus a few new names I'm sure could be interested, I can certainly think of a couple.

I think we probably could do with a couple more active mods. If there are posters who are definitely up for it, I feel we should encourage it.

but why does it not show which of them are mods on that list?

anyway - I agree, let's refresh

I nominate excitable woof and the artist formerly known as tree formerly known as chlamydia RIP.

If ain't broke, it don't need fixing...
I do agree. We're not getting any younger and we all have busy lives. We'd be asking these good people who VOLUNTEER FOR FREE to do extra work here to make manifestoes and post VOTE BIG RON multiple times, when the mod team are doing a very good job and we'd probably just be re-electing them. IF there was a contingent of fresh new faces who want to stand now I can see the logic... Is there?

I don't agree with 'if it ain't broke' at all. But I do agree the question is rather is there anybody else who is up for it.

how would we know? there hasn't been any suggestion of a mod election.

rather than assuming there's not and letting the mod team continue with some posters who are really not that active at all, we should at least commit to an annual mod election. if the personnel doesn't change then fine. nobody is saying the mods have done a bad job and need punishing.

It's probably not a bad thing to have some people who don't post that much moderating, as they are more likely to be able to keep a neutral stance away from the daily cut and thrust. But actually using the site probably needs to be high on the list. That said, and in all fairness, aside from the odd flare up, and various exotic and historic nemesis that various people appear to have, I'm amazed at how seamlessly and calmly this forum operates.

I think we need to offer it out. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the current set but there’s a couple of people on that list who are never here and a couple more who’ve taken time away from moopy in the last couple of years.

exotic and historic nemeses :disco:

I’m happy to throw my hat into the ring :ken: if we have them but I’m fine with the current bunch and don’t think we really need them.

Pretty sure I brought it up a good few months ago and nothing was done about it. A few people said it was a good idea, but then nothing every happened about it again.

Assuming?

I literally asked is there!

What year did we last have mod/admin elections? I remember someone tried to coin the term MODMIN at one point that still sends shudders down my spine. :zombie:

Both 2023 I think

Well if it was 3 years ago I would think we should put the feelers out to see if we have any new interest? I’m not really sure who is no longer really active? No shade on the current team as they do a great job, but adding more people who are around more wouldn’t do any harm.

I'm available as a campaign manager to anyone who hasn't been a cunt to me. And I actually have almost nobody on my shit list. And nobody is blocked/ignored because I CAN FUCKING TAKE IT.

I mean, clearly I couldn't the other weekend but, you know, that was... ages ago and... I've really changed.

Just like Jordan when she became Katie Price.

This topic pops up roughly every 6-8 months, no one else volunteers, so you're stuck with this old tripe.
You have to announce it to get volunteers! You don't just chat about it in a thread.
this! having a discussion that not everyone will see anyway because it's buried in a general admin thread, and then saying "nobody volunteered so we didn't do it lol" is a bit of a copout, no?

An annual mod election is a TERRIBLE idea. It's not been that frequent for a DECADE.
and what?? are we that tied to tradition?

it's really not a bad idea at all to keep it relatively frequent. a lot can happen in the space of 2-3 years. a very active poster can become someone who logs in once a month and barely contributes. in fact that does happen with mods. better to keep it regular.

again - even if the mod personnel doesn't change, or nobody volunteers, just giving users the opportunity once a year and having an election if required feels like a good way of keeping everything fresh and making sure the current team comprises active posters. I feel like you're reacting as though something seismic is being suggested rather than a simple annual check-in.
