Adverts that are annoying you at the moment? (1 Viewer)

THAT FUCKING LEAKING BABY ADVERT! ARRRRRRRRRRRRRGH. It is beyond grim.

Oh GOODY :|

Television channels including ITV could be allowed to show an extra 20 minutes of adverts during some peak time evenings after regulator Ofcom launched a consultation that could result in public service broadcasters boosting advertising income by £85m per year. Ofcom today launched the consultation on changes to TV advertising regulations, including an option, favoured by ITV, to allow it to boost the amount of TV advertising it runs around mass-audience shows, such as The X Factor.

Under this option, the total weekly average of peak time ad minutes - currently 40 minutes each night between 6pm and 11pm - would stay the same. But channels would cut back on advertising during lower-rating nights, allowing the maximum nightly peak-time average to rise to a maximum 60 minutes on popular Saturday and Sunday nights.

Ofcom has estimated that this option could boost TV ad revenues for public service broadcasters including ITV1 and Channel 4 by as much as £40m a year; conversely it would hit non-PSB channels by a similar amount because of the methods media agencies use to calculate ad spend rates. The consultation, the second stage of Ofcom's review of TV advertising, examines rules on the total amount of TV advertising, the number and length of commercial breaks and peak-time ad limits.

Peter Bourton, the Ofcom head of commercial policy, content and standards, said that while viewers preferred three commercial breaks in a 60-minute show they were also content with an increase to four breaks. "There was greater willingness to tolerate more ads in some programmes, such as quiz-style shows, magazine and music shows, than in long-form drama," he said. He added that a change in the peak length of TV ad breaks of three minutes and 30 seconds might not find favour with viewers.

What gets me most is this bit:

Peter Bourton, the Ofcom head of commercial policy, content and standards, said that while viewers preferred three commercial breaks in a 60-minute show they were also content with an increase to four breaks.

Which IDIOT viewers have they been asking? Go back to two ad breaks a hour like it used to be so that you can actually get into a programme before being taken away.

research has proven that more ad breaks = lower ratings. they never learn. it won't last.

back on topic - that McDonalds advert is FUCKING DREADFUL!

Cactus Kid and his thick shit girlfriend need to get off my tv pronto.

Anyone who refuses to drink water in favour of liquid sugar and chemicals deserves to die of dehydration and stab wounds, if you ask me.

You have your wish, it's been BANNED

Not because it's bloody awful, but as it 'condones underage sex and pregnancy'

A DFS advert has just appeared on my screen with Christmas music

ARGH

Kerry Katona has just appeared with another Iceland advert

DIE

Notb ANNOYINg but what is with that jelly snake one and the teddy who says BRING ON THE TRUMPETS!!?!

Advert I do like ALERT

The one for Barclaycard where the man is going down the water chute to Let Your Love Flow I think is really clever

The ones with Colleen Nolan REALLY take the cake. That bit where they say "it's freezing" I'd like to throw them in a vat of liquid nitrogen

I hate that Daz advert with that tired drag queen Bet Lynch and Dean bastarding Gaffney. POOR Jackie Corkhill :( used to love her

YES! I want to get to/from work on a slide :(

I HATE the new Mr Muscle. WHAT THE FUCK?

I haven't seen it, but I'm assuming some smart-arse ad exec is taking the piss with the 'down the chutes' concept.

That fucking sainsburys advert with those two women gets right on my tits - the new worker that is oh so happy to be there and the one that stalks Jamie Oliver. Grr :grr:

I forget if i ve mentioned it before - but every SINGLE one of the Orange Wednesday adverts.

And a mobile phone one, where they are at that sceance and the man/woman says "Forget it, i cant get...blah blah extra minutes for £30" or something.

EURGH

I really like the Orange Wednesday adverts :( I think they are very good.

Mind you, I watch TV and go to the cinema once a year so I am not exposed to it a hundred and thirty times a day.

I used to quite like them, but now, every time i go to the cinema i see the same advert constantly and it makes me want to CRY :(

Im just very impatient at the cinema, i hate adverts...unless its trailers.

I like the Angelica Houston one, that doesn't seem to have worn thin yet :D

Oh..it has with me :(

Its not the actors/actresses i mind, its the 3 other blokes i cant stand.

I like the Angelica Houston one mainly for Angelica Houston. I think she does her description well, and you can imagine her throwing herself behind a project like the film she describes.

All the attempts at being funny from the blokes in it piss me off after seeing it once though.

I very rarely watch adverts for them to bother me. The vast majority of what I watch is recorded on Skyplus, so we just whizz through the ads and save the annoyance, plus saving about 20 minutes on most hour long US TV shows.

The one with all the women laughing on it which suddenly turns into "Yes, you can now laugh out loud and piss yourself in comfort with Tena Lady". Not all women who've had children have stress incontinence and bladder weakness.

That new one about buckling up in the car - it doesnt annoy me at all, because well..how could it.

But MY GOD its gross, when you see the uncut version with the lungs and heart going through the mans ribcage :zombie:

Same as the one for that chafing cream. not everyone who uses is a BIG FATTY as the little balloon men in the advert imply. What about chefs and runners etc.

OK now I never really got the gorilla drumming advert in the first place, it was alright the first time, and it brought Phil Collins back into the Top 20 which is clearly not a good thing. That airport one they did after, basically doing the same idea, was shit.

so NOW they just change the music to both adverts and stick them out again? LAZY AND RUBBISH. The gorilla one particularly so, as its just the same footage slowed down to fit the music!

ERGH

The hair straightening ad where the straighteners do a SHIT job on some girl's hair and then some tattooed guy says in a very wooden fashion 'its the GUVNAH the absolute GUVNAH, go and buy it. I insist.'

HORRID

Right, that's the LAST straw

I just saw that new Iceland advert tonight

I never thought they could make them any worse, but adding Colleen Nolan on is double the trauma. They must be taking the piss with that new one! Like an advert so bad, it's reverse pyschology.

Or maybe they knew that people hated Katona so much, that she couldn't do them alone
