Agnes - Beautiful Madness (1 Viewer)

So, about 45 minutes, so not far off…

But fuck me, I can’t even begin to tell you what’s happened tonight. I have never been to a gig where every single song was 10/10. Astonishing.

as if she chopped 3 songs from the Stockholm show. what a menace.

Oh I was so great to gush praise on this and be amused at her relegating Release Me to “oldie but goodie” status halfway through the show. Only to realise that was the FUCKING END.

Nine songs. No encore.

Done with this stupid bitch.

Well, yes, it was outrageous…

…but what we did get was SO FUCKING GOOD.

I really did think when Release Me came on we’d still have Wake Up, Lovesongs and probably On and On to go.

Can’t believe we lost ITrance/ Limelight, though :(

Tonight was so brief but so good.... fuming about the itrance ommission but I'll take what we got.

If she cba touring, could she at least do some kind of Agnes Voyage for the gays to visit from time to time. Cheers luv!

It was fucking incredible but my abiding memory is going to be her utter contempt for the audience.

I actually tend to agree but I think I’ve been to “gigs” at Koko before which were just like that. En Vogue did 45 minutes and fucked off. My expectations weren’t higher for Agnes.

I was so confused when everyone left after Release Me. I felt surely there was an encore.

Unfortunately one my abiding memories will be the queue for the cloakroom.

THE GREATEST POP STAR OF OUR GENERATION.

I’d never been happier to have my coat wrapped around my waist so I could escape through the side exit

Also, can we not underestimate the importance of 1500 gays all screaming

in the middle of London on a Wednesday night?

I was kind of astonished at how well everyone knew the songs.

Oh no, imagine dropping I TRANCE of all things.

I guess Hoopla Presents... means a glorified olden days G-A-Y PA.

Obsessed with the idea that she left her house on a Wednesday night to perform one song at the end of a support act

It was so strange- I noticed her listed alongside the DJ on the set times and then forgot her. When she basically came out 5 minutes after Agnes was due on, everyone was fairly fed up of waiting already, most people at the front having got in at 7pm and not expecting Agnes to not be coming on until 9:fucking:30 that we all just groaned when she appeared as we worried this was an actual support set! :D

I think that's actually an entirely fair point. It was a glorified PA. Koko has a habit of hosting stuff like this- but I agree with Pingu that that should have been stated. I mean, I was coming whatever (and I'm so glad I did) but 45 minutes for a train/hotel/night out package seems, well, A LOT.

Also a DJ is not a support act

Au contraire nowadays, that's fairly common.

I thought both DJs hilariously were just hitting "play" on a pre-mixed mix though. (I've DJ'd...I know ALL the "twist knob", "wave hands", "tap console", "use filter" tricks :D ). The first one was actually really good music-wise, so will let him off- I never imagined I'd be dancing to Taylor Dayne's Prove Your Love in a 2026 setting, but there we are. The second seemed to think we were in a gay club at 4am on a Monday morning after a hard weekend, which didn't fit anything at all.

The second dj (Kris Di Angelis) was responsible for one of my fave dance tracks of recent years under the name KDA feat Tinashe, Just Say... and also Rumble with Katy B, so I can let him off, but yeah it went a bit hard for 8pm.

Living about an hour from the venue made it a no brainer for me but if I'd been paying travel to London and hotels, not sure I would have made it on a Wednesday night in January!

The funny thing is that part of my scepticism about her as a live act included the hunch that she’d give us a handful of new songs + Release Me and would be on for less than an hour, which is exactly what we got in the end, but I’d foolishly let myself believe we might be in for a bit more than that after hearing that the Stockholm gig was approaching an acceptable show length.

And it’s only really annoying because she was SO amazing and surpassed all my expectations of her as a performer and just seemed to be really hitting her stride when it was all over.

But as other people have said, maybe the “Hoopla presents” billing was a giveaway.

I enjoyed both the DJs although I was at the bar talking to some London Swedish girl about A*Teens for most of the second one :D

That's a key point you make- she really did seem to be hitting her stride when it was cruelly cut short. Albeit that she came out the gate banging. Even if you ignore the fan favourites (I mean, she was never playing the dance version of Big Blue Wall that I'd want her to :D ), I think you could reasonably expect:

On and On
iTrance
Limelight
Wake Up
Lovesongs

...to have featured in the setlist and it still be wall to wall, 10/10 bangers. Considering she did two of those songs a few days ago does leave a bit of a sour taste in the mouth, I agree.

I’d gone back and forth on On & On. As much as it was probably a reasonable expectation for Release Me to be the only pre-2019 cut on there, I did wonder if as part of a full-length (lol) headline set she might have made room for On & On even in remixed form or something.

Then her self-conscious “let’s go down memory lane” intro to Release Me quickly put paid to THAT ever having been a possibility!

I only saw the 2nd DJ as had already seen the set times so grabbed some dinner and got drunk outside the venue

It did remind me I am too old to enjoy gigs like that these days

Must have been 97% gay men - felt like I was a at Roast

Do we think she could extend things to a REAL tour.....

I felt bad as I was showing my friend the setlist and he chose to go to the toilet/bar and missed BCE (they didn't know Limelight/iTrance)

She should at least be Jade levels of success with the quality of the songs and her own star quality but the streaming numbers seem so low

The other point I should have made is that all of those songs I listed would have FIT. The UK remix of On and On for sure.

I mean, I’m not expecting Love Love Love anytime soon and quite rightly- it wouldn’t sit anywhere near her current oeuvre.
