Agnes - Nothing Can Compare (EP)

Was going to make a joke about wondering if Veritas killed her career, but I remembered I was thinking of Dignitas

I'm not sure which I like better - I Trance is quite hypnotic. She seems to have gone full on dance diva, though '⁣The first two songs to come I dedicate to the dance' on her twitter suggests it may not all be that way.
 
A week in and I-Trance is definitely the one. :disco:

I do hope she has an album's worth of this hot shit.

Is this really her first musical outing since 2012? Veritas was really a strong pop record, impromptu top five:

2. Walk Out of Here
3. One Last Time
4. Amazing

I never really responded to the little I've heard of her before, but these two tracks have just grown and grown. Hope there's more in this vein to come.

These don't seem to have done much for her commercially, sadly. Limelight has 400,000 streams on Spotify which is fairly piffling for a Swedish artist (Spotify is huge there). 139,000 for I-Trance.

By way of comparison, Lena Philipsson has over a million for her most recent single and she's got a good 20 years on Agnes.
 
I mean, it was thrown out there with zero promo or push after a break of, what, seven years? The numbers aren't good but they can't have expected better.
 
it's like your favourite pair of sneakers. familiar, light, maybe a little worn but you just wanna wear them all the time.
 
Nothing Can Compare is pretty wonderful. A bit closer to the sound of Veritas but still with an appreciated sprinkling of this new, fuller-voiced disco diva incarnation of Agnes.

This is excellent. Not Dangerous is a nice little bonus too, but there definitely needs to be more to come.

yes, yes, yes.

not dangerous is not enough to follow up the brilliance of the previous three i am utterly loving everything about her these days. i love the way she's been obscured and put out of focus in the new video. in line with the artwork for the previous two singles and that was *.*

i am positively looning out to this young woman right now. how is everything she's done so right?

listening to one last time, it actually feels more relevant than ever. the left/right channel games at the start, the start/stop feeling that follows, that desperate notion that just once more and everything could turn around...
 
"I Trance" is my favorite of the new songs but yes we need a full album

Her voice just does something to me, I've missed her so much. Veritas is one of my favourite albums of the last decade and I hated her leaving us hanging for more for so many years. The long gap really affected her popularity in Sweden, but I don't think she really cares about that, and when she gives us material of this quality, all is forgiven.

I only realised that she's worked with Salem al Fakir on the whole EP. I hope she doesn't leave it too long for more material and that this is just the beginning.

Apparently there are two more EPs on the way - she’s just finishing the 2nd one.
 
(i swear i'm not on her payroll but) i just bought ep online today (wot no vinyl?!) for 1 euro and 50 cents.

wtf? but also the best spent 1 and a half euro ever.
 
(not sure why but nothing can compare was the one that seems to have proper set me off... every few years there seems to be the odd amazing track that brings back the knock on wood beat)

Limelight is just below the other two for me, but all three are pretty fucking fantastic.
