All inclusive Madonna CHART STATS, CERTS & STREAMS thread

That’s very strange then. I thought Spotify was able to identify songs of the same name and same length and bundle them. Something is OFF
They're 2 seconds off (probably an editing thing) but for all intents and purposes are identical and should be merged.
Her team has a history of being incompetent and not giving a shit about this sort of thing.

I keep seeing fans on X having a go at Guy O'Seary for not doing enough to promote her back catalogue and seizing opportunities such as this, not sure what he should be doing but they are not 'APPY!

#44 on iTunes currently. She REALLY needed it to be on the soundtrack and I don’t know why it wasn’t included.

#31 in UK. She’s not moving fast enough for this to really suggest it’s going to trend.

Yeah as I posted in the *NSYNC thread, unfortunately it seems like Bye Bye Bye has become the breakout hit from Deadpool rather than this.

I don't think it's that binary or simple to be honest.

It doesn’t have to be, but the fact is they were both featured heavily in the film and Bye Bye Bye is re-charting on Spotify and Like a Prayer isn’t. So for whatever reason (possibly age demographic of the Deadpool audience) it doesn’t really seem to be happening for her.

LAP is not a song to be rediscovered though. Nor is it even remotely embraced ironically. I know BBB isn't just endorsed that way, but it could never withstand the same pop culture ubiquity LAP has and does. I'll be throwing it out there to a friend to see this film today (well I'll be suggesting Longlegs first as option 1).

I see your point but I just wouldn't frame it like that. Bye Bye Bye is doing better, sure (not disputing that); but Like A Prayer and Madonna as an artist have also been experiencing surges.

It's still growing on Spotify.

Sure, it may be happening MORE for Bye Bye Bye, but to say it isn't happening for her (at the very least at this stage) isn't necessarily true at all. Just because one is taking off to a greater extent, doesn't mean the other isn't at all.

Particularly when Bye Bye Bye is second on both the soundtrack and Spotify playlist whereas Like A Prayer isn't on either - so people are actively seeking it out, rather than lazily streaming.

I came out of with Like A Prayer and You're The One That I Want in my head, rather Bye Bye Bye, although it is a bop.

If her team has any sense they will give her fans a commemorative 7” single with album version on A side and movie remix on B side.

But of course it won’t happen. They can’t even manage to put the song on the movie Spotify playlists let alone press a few thousand records..

Madge doesn’t want anyone to steal money from her so she does nothing

It's now been added to the official Spotify playlist. Better late than never I suppose. Honestly I despair with her incompetent team.
And they've gone with the album version (which has significantly lower streams than the Celebration version even though they're identical but not merged.)

It will be interesting to see the boost it gets. But yes, shame it wasn't a week ago.

...and I suppose it may be considered ungrateful to grumble about it being placed so far down, but I'm going to do it anyway.

I don’t know what’s worse - people using Shazam in the cinema or people not knowing who sings Like A Prayer

Most young people wouldn't know who she is or who sings LAP, and if they're looking her and it up - that's great!

My 16 year old nieces are talking about seeing the film. Fairly confident they know who she is, or at least are aware of her, but I'd be amazed if they could name any song by her, or would recognise LAP.

If they told me they Shazamed the song because they liked it, I'd be THRILLED - and making sure they listen to the whole of Celebration when I next see them :disco:

Looks like the rate of growth is slowing, so hopefully that playlisting will give it a boost.

Having now seen Deadpool I’m surprised this isn’t charting. It was the perfect use of the song.

Is this the first time "Supernatural" is on streaming?

And I love "Cherish" :disco:
