Actually I do need to re-listen to it because none of the album tracks are really stirring my memory.
 
Proper amazing and will always be quite special to me this one.

Let down by a few tracks but otherwise would be 10/10
 
I would like to point out the brilliance of the understated and overlooked "Take The Key" and "Heaven" which I JUST LOVE

Great single choices though... apart from "Bootie Call", which I always found average and should have been "Let's Get Started" that got released, but it got to #1 so what do I know
 
Wasn't 'Lets Get Started' released first before 'I Know Where It's At' but didn't do anything? Originally called 'If You Wanna Party'

Or am I dreaming?
 
yeah I think you're right - wasn't that before Appleton got involved?

It was rewritten for the album though. Still could have been released because it did fuck all the first time.
 
Yeah I still remember it was a standout track when I first listened to the album

LOVE it. But seriously Funky, it's no Spiceworld.

'War Of Nerves' is fucking spectacular and I loved all the other singles too. 'Never Ever' is so unique I think. I did find some of the album tracks a bit filler though. I can't even remember some of them.

I much preferred All Saints at the time but I was a teen back then and thought it was too uncool to like the Spice Girls. In retrospect, though, Spiceworld is where it's at!
 
TOO MUCH FILLER

The singles are all 10/10 apart from the the covers (of which Under The Bridge is actually my favourite, their Lady Marmalade was 100% CRAP)

I think I have been a bit harsh to give it a 5, it's more of a 7. I am quite a big fan of Beg as it happens
 
Yeah I listened to it last night and the non-singles in general really didn't grab me.

Say what you like about Spiceworld it was ALL KILLER on that album.
 
9/10. Love this album, never overplayed it when I was younger so it still feels fresh and exciting to listen to.

But which version was better? The original Let's Get Started, Never Ever Nice Hat Mix and original Lady Marmalade one or the If You Wanna Party (I Found Lovin'), Never Ever All Star Mix and Lady Marmalade 98 mix?

'I Remember' is also a MARVELOUS bside.

Indeed it was! When All Saints were All Saints 1.9.7.5 and were missing the Appletons!

I have the original CD single, it has some rather retro remixes accompanying it.

And 'Take the Key' is a favourite of mine too. I loved the version they did for MTV which was on the All Saints VHS. So funky fresh.

Cameron McVey used to produce some fabulous pop music.

I dug this out last night.

It really is two great singles, two average covers and fuck all else*, isn't it? The album tracks are SO BORING.

*and Bootie Call which is just OK.
 
Apart from Heaven and Booty Call, this album really is quite FABULOUS. War of Nerves and Take the Key are some of the best songs I've ever heard.

But I think I still enjoyed Saints and Sinners more.
 
The main issue with both of All Saints first two albums is that K-Gee's production has aged HORRIBLY. Booty Call and Lady Marmalade are the worst offenders of the hits, they just sound so cheap and tinny now.

The Orbit stuff has stood the best of time much better.
 
I love Bootie Call too. However, this War of Nerves is so fucking overrated here. Bland and boring and I never want to listen to it. :evil:

War of Nerves is nice, but the way funks wanks off over it, you'd think it were 2 Become 1

The one that got the boot before the Appletons came on board died of cancer last year.

Bootie Call is :disco: and War of Nerves I can't even remember it was so dull.

The album isn't my cup of tea. Album tracks are so dull. As a few of the above I was totally on board the Spiceworld train.
 
I listened to this album again last night. A good 3 or 4 sings have not aged well at all. Saints and Sinners sounds much better I think.
