I remember first seeing RuPaul and I was SO AGOG that this beautiful woman was actually a man. I think I always kinda knew Dame Edna and others were jokes. I know they're both technically drag, but Dame Edna was a straight man dressed as a grotesque parody of a woman, who falls into the age old anglo-saxon tradition of men dressing as woman for the entertainment of the masses. Whereas RuPaul was a gay man dressed as a fucking supermodel from gay subculture. I know this is obvious shit, but there was never a comparison for me.

Yeah, I associate Edna more with Pantomime Dames than what I would later understand to be the art of drag, which for anyone growing up in the 90s was absolutely embodied by RuPaul.

No, I see that, but they absolutely were both drag queens.

Whilst I agree with you, relatively RuPaul back then was much closer to “traditional” old style drag than she hasn’t become...If not in looks.
 
We're so going to get a ANTM: British Invasion style series of Drag Race at some point.
 
We’re getting international idol (or whatever that was called) with a Canadian version, Thailand and whatever else.
 
Do you think all these new versions are just to populate future All stars? I mean if you have two from each series, you’d have enough for an All Stars every year!

All Stars is on Netflix UK these days. Well season 4 is. I hope we're getting it on the same day this time.

I don’t know, it’s just a strange way of phrasing it. Maybe it’s a meet the queens special or something.
 
Well, if we have to endure celebrities doing it (take it back if they're fit male men), I hope the judges are all former contestants. Michelle can go on holiday.
 
All Stars is June 5th, it's just the use of the term 'special season' that's been confusing people. I reckon they're just saying it because it's the first season on this new channel, but we'll see.
 
Yep, looks like it’s a regular season of All Stars. I’m surprised to hear that apparently VH1 just didn’t want to air it due to underwhelming ratings for previous All Star seasons. I thought the whole franchise was doing great across the board but seems not.

Must be something else too though? Maybe Showtime had a better offer and wants subscribers?
