First single from their upcoming album, out 2nd December, which I am quite excited about:

I think the album is due out in Spring. They have apparently stepped back from the electropop and got the guitars out (there is a very short clip on their IG stories which doesn't contradict this) but I have much faith that it will be marvellous.

It is definitely the warned change in sound, especially following on from Joan of Arc on the Dancefloor. Very nice though. Some interesting touches, and then it kind of changes direction after the second chorus.

They have also been teasing a re-recorded adult version of Potential Breakup Song.

first thought was "really queens?" but as it went on I found myself getting quite into it. the switch-up is indeed musically lovely. hopefully the album is not entirely without pop hooks though.

I quite like this. The 80s synth pop schtick was great but was getting kind of samey, so don't mind a bit of a shift.

I would have liked a full album in their previous style, though they released an album's worth of material to be fair. I suppose Joan... took that synthpop sound to the extreme too (quite brilliantly).

I am sure there will be some more obvious pop hooks on the album but I guess they decided to go for something completely different as an introduction. Loving Slow Dancing -the post first chorus ooohs and horns are especially gorgeous.

it might be because Taylor has got me on a slight folksy/country bumpkin mission right now, but I'm really enjoying Slow Dancing. it's so sedate even Dido might consider sticking a donk on it, but I do love a song that's content taking its time and confident enough in its songwriting. this still has hooks. I reckon I'm here for a whole album of it

Slow Dancing is gorgeous. I'm definitely interested in them exploring this direction further.

The video is out tomorrow.

This is such a lovely song. I love just about everything they've done since coming back (and the album Potential Break-Up Song was from tbh).

The original already has so much bitterness without any swearing at all so I’m skeptical this will add anything. I still want to hear it though

Next single Listen!!! is out on Friday. I can only assume from three exclamation marks that it will be a lively one.

I appreciate the nineties indie sound and it has grown after a few listens but I don't think it is their strongest song, and definitely not as appealing as Slow Dancing.

Predictably I have very much come round to Listen!!! now, though it doesn't quite take me places like Slow Dancing. I kind of imagine the two singles might be the extremes of the sounds on the album and I'm looking forward to hearing the songs that fall between.

Listen!!! is fun and lovely. but Slow Dancing is so dreamy and feels like a classic already! can't wait to see what the album has in store - not coming til May apparently, but a song each month until then

I love Slow Dancing so much - such a delightfully warm slow burn that reveals its charms in a leisurely way and is aging just marvellously. 3m+ streams and still doing pretty well - unlike Listen!!! which is stuck on 560k.

new one Pretty Places out next week

I wonder if Slow Dancing benefited from being the new single when they released the explicit Potential Breakup Song. I agree it is a cut above Listen!!! though.

Looking forward to hearing Pretty Places. I'm very intrigued as to how it will sound - I'm guessing nearer to Slow Dancing.
