Aly & AJ - With Love From (New Album)

I was very much anticipating Open to Something and That Something Is You and it is indeed the one. Big and dreamy and beautiful. I wasn't quite sure whether the 'Open to you!' shouty bits at the end quite fit on first listen but I have come round to them now.

My other picks are the very gorgeous Blue Dress, Tear the Night Up (feels very much in the After Hours vein) and Sunchoke. Some of their little lyrical quirks are so good... I can't wait to feel so mad I could choke the sun.
 


This is very much an Aly song I think, but their magic is when they blend their voices.

are the ones but it's all really good. Way of Nature is obviously an outlier but has some truly gorgeous melodies. they got the singles quite wrong!
 
I haven't listened to this album but I'm seeing them tonight :disco:
 
report back please! I'm sure Sunchoke, Tear the Night Up and Love You This Way will go off live. glad they already did Blue Dress and Baby Let Your Head Down on the last tour since it looks unlikely they'll be coming to Europe this time :(
 
They were INCREDIBLE actually. I'd say it's one of the concerts that most exceeded my expectations ever. They performed every song on the new album, plus a couple from A Touch of the Beat..., and Potential Breakup Song and Like Whoa. They both sounded great and had such a good stage presence. I don't know all the songs enough to comment on the individual performances, but Slow Dancing and Stomach (my favorite of their songs) was the highlights.

I was surprised that the crowd seemed most excited by Take Me, not Potential Breakup Song. A lot of people were singing along to every song so I guess a lot of fans.

once you get over it not containing the towering highs of Touch of the Beat it's a really very enjoyable and consistent record. the title track has grown on me so much.
 
I revisited the album this week and it remains a wonderful listen. I think the mood they create help make it greater than the sum of its parts. Open to Something is still the one though.

I wonder when we are getting the promised deluxe...
