Initially underwhelming but has since turned into a MONSTER of a song and is up there with her very best and quintessential Gaga and I love it very much

It's a racket but I love it now. Probably because it was initially underwhelming despite like being clanged over the head with a jam saucepan. And not being a huge hit allowed it more time to breathe maybe. It feels uniquely Gaga and I'm glad it's part of her armoury now

I never QUITE clicked with this. Maybe coming after The Fame and Born This Way(to some extent) it just felt underwhelming.
the fact that it's really just a straightforward and fairly no frills pop song that's not trying to match or outdo anything that came before is probably why it works so well.

it really was the perfect tonic after all the stadium sized bangers of Born This Way. I still think it's a really sleek, cool pop song with an absolutely superb vocal. that second verse! :disco:

Also loved how she click baited everyone into thinking the parent album was going to follow a familiar path and then gave us Gaga at its craziest and most UNHINGED!

At least with BTW (album), she had some kind of pop sensitivity; but with ARTPOP she was wilding.

Her stans will never get a song like this again. They'll be served nothing but Perfect Illusion and Hold My Hand duplicates for the next 30 years.

Reflect on that.

She might never hijack pop culture again, but throw me some slick Applause aplomb bombs and drop me some mindless pop machine Stupid Love bops from time to time and I'll be so happy I could die.

I didn't want to say it. But there were a fair few Prism queens here back in the day. I guess it was... more accessible.

You know what? I think I’m glad Roar won back then. So of us ARE basic queens. Some of us don’t have the time or the energy it takes to process Gag’s convoluted ART sometimes.

But I’m also glad Katy and Gaga are where they are right now. Katy in her wilderness era and Gaga opening up Olympics :disco:

I mean, isn't ALL pop technically basic? The arrangements, the lyrics, the melodies...they're all just rehashes of each other. Gays just call a song "basic" when it doesn't give them 'the fantasy'.
