Appleton - Side by Side

Seeing as nobody but a few online gays knows it already exists, can they just try to palm off "5am" as the new single please?

To think, they might actually release their album before the Sugababes.

I'll save myself for the full song tomorrow. produced by Gareth Young who also did Fantasy

It sounds very early 2000s, if it’s just for nostalgia then lovely yeah but not sold on the clip

TBF I have no expectations for this, so if it’s decent I’ll happily take it.

It's good but lyrically and melodically a little clunky.

It’s no Louise-style shock triumph. But it’s as good as an Appleton comeback in 2026 could reasonably have been expected.

Similarly to how I missed Natalie’s vocals on the recent Shaznay solo album, I find myself yearning for a bit of Shaznay’s flavour in the vocal mix on this.

Bloody Mel and her burgers.

I’m a little disappointed that this sounds dated but I’m more disappointed that I’m not enjoying a bright and breezy pop production with overproduced strings and generic acoustic guitar

I mean I used to lap that shit up

I think my problem is it sounds like Appleton singing a Louise song. Lovely harmonies as always, but the production is very bland.

Im assuming this is all SELF FUNDED? Fair play to them if they just wanted to put some new music out there and enjoy performing. I wasn’t all that keen first time round personally….

released by Appleton Recordings so independent / self funded I'd say

I like it - some of the lyrics are a bit cringe they way Everything Eventually was but its very THEM and a big surprise for them to be releasing any new music so I am here for it. and if they get to an ALBAM i'm confident there will be some GEMS on there.

Nicole on isolated spoken words. Natalie heavy lifting vocal duties - One Woman Man would have been a racket without her.

A song being called "pleasant" this many times is a red flag.

I love the “I WISH THEM WELL” energy of this post :disco:

I mean that’s not bad. Very ‘Here it Comes Again’ as a comeback sounding, but I quite liked that. A bit more oomph would’ve elevated it.

I absolutely love All Saints but they do feel like the ur-example of a girl group being far better than its constituent parts.
