Oh LOVE the statues referencing various album cover poses!

I was just about to come in here and say how the video is just a retake of Paula Abdul’s Cold Hearted. AND I’M HERE FOR IT.

and let’s face it the only quasi iconic ones are My Everything and Thank U Next 💅

Having just looked at the clip (which is fabulous etc etc) -

I will probably get cancelled if I say why; but I do worry about her.

I'm not sure if her 10 years in the industry has made a big enough mark. You don't just get to reference your career WILLY NILLY.

Given it a few listens and I agree with those who noted that it lacks punch. My initial speculation was right. It's too featherweight. It's a shame because the ballroom production is so easy to work with. If she would've just used her chest voice in the verses, instead of beating her falsetto to death, the final product could've served HANDBAG HOUSE and been larger than life itself. She definitely has the vocal prowess for it. Instead, it's just...pleasant lounge music. Which I still love 🤭, but I'm just saying.

Also, I do think that the ballroom production is a cop-out. But this IS pop music and she IS a 'gAy iCoN', so I'll take it.

8/10.

Yeah she's the LEAST fabulous thing about that video :D The choreo is beautiful though. That panning shot at the climax is stunning.

I agree entirely, a couple of potent chest belts would’ve given it the elevation it ultimately strives for but fails to capture.

It's good fun, isn't it? An upbeat chunk of early 90s house with a bit of the usual in the lyrics. I could have done without the whole schtick with the critics but, well, gave her a trailer, eh?

OK basic me is obsessed with the part from 1:22 sec and then 2:15 :disco:

It really could use a shake up before the final chorus though. Once I’ve heard the first sixty seconds I feel I’ve heard the whole thing. She certainly has the ability to tear it a new one at the end as well.

I quite enjoyed it after first stream (I played Sophie straight after to cancel it out). It reminds me of a Shep Pettibone remix of an old Janet track (I’m thinking Miss You Much) which inspired the backing track to Vogue.

I’m in Manchester and Ariana is going OFF

She released some extra versions on iTunes and Spotify midweek (presumably to give it a nudge to #1 in the US). The extended mix is great.

#2 UK (21st top 10) *600 copies behind #1

Projected to debut at #1 in the States

She looks so…. strange? I can’t put my finger on it.

Is it because ahes not blackfishing anymore?
