Well I love it, when her vocals first come in under Ari’s and then they flip it for the second, I like.

Less keen on her wailing towards the end but it’s great to hear her on a song like this!

(Has it always been walk this way through the fire?!)

she should've done subtle breathy vocals. the screeching works in the last chorus, but not throughout the whole song.

well, she ruined it. but it was already ruined from the get-go.

Maybe I just love Mariah being in her Fly Away / Butterfly Reprise vocal bag, ad-libbing the fuck over everything and saying it with her chest (voice), but this vocal makeover has finally elevated what was a pleasant "put in on in the background" bop to where I needed it to be. The next MC album needs to give us ageing gays some old-school club mixes.

I like Mariah's solo verse. the part on Ari's verse where they "blend" her voice is so amateur though. overall it's a bit of a mess.

Yes. Their voices don’t really complement each other (at least not here).

Loving this now. Just needed to get a handle on the ad libs :disco:

That one at 3:11 is really reminiscent of the classic remix era

Mariah sounds great on the verse on her own, but she sounds like your Nan on karaoke on the choruses. The harmonies do not work for me.

There's definitely more punch to it now. Love Mariah's verse I love both versions.

KC and DuB, I know you can probably tell better than anyone, is that Mariah singing the pre-chorus on a higher key than Ariana? The "boy c'mon put your lipstick on..." bit?
Yes, Mariah's vocals are definitely in that part. You can hear it especially when they sing "in a dark situation" I think.

I don't know about "replace" but I do love that they both have great presence on the track.

Does anybody know who's whistles belong to who? I'm guessing the one at the start that goes after Ariana's run is Mariah, since we've also seen her imply it, but there's some in the last chorus and I can't decipher who is who. Usually I'd just shrug and say "that's Mariah" but since both singers are capable of using the technique I'm not sure.
