This wasn't bad - it was a good idea for a challenge and the songs were pretty good. That runway was a crapshoot though :D

The Viv isn't playing the PR game very well, is she? :D But I mean I get it, she got punished for saying she would have blocked Jinkx, so why not just go through with it?
Meanwhile Jaida sneaks to two stars without any blocks, and Yvie joins the top 3 :o

I really thought they would give it to Shea, but I think this challenge demonstrates my issue with Shea - almost everyone else (particularly the other team) decided to take a Y2K girl group challenge and make it drag and funny, but she immediately went to "Let's make this realistic and have all the references", gee, fun :) (her red streaks were great though).

I barely understood what the first group were gibbering, I forgot to put the subtitles on. The second group won it for me, even if everyone was doing a BIT and they didn't all land (I did laugh at Jinkx's "I've fallen for you and I can't get up" though).

But yeah they were all pretty decent - I agree with the panel complaining how it was so hard to pick a top two, but not because they were all amazing :D

And that Dolly Patron runway ... some right horrors - shocking Shea's was the worst, with the grey tits and the ramen noodle wig. Monet was just wearing a coat someone made :D Yvie was... a choice. I like how the Viv and Trinity both tried to get the resemblance, the Viv got it, but Trinity ... what a state :D

Entertaining anyway, maybe not for the intended reasons.

I think all the black queens were at a bit of a disadvantage with Dolly, honestly.

Loved the Viv's lip sync. She really channelled her. Yvie's manic vibes just didn't suit the song at all.

And Carson Gayly :o he looks so different without mirror ball highlights under his chin from another ghastly sparkly blouse

I thought the first group had the much stronger song and it was surprising that they chose 2 winners from the second group.

It should have been Monet, she killed both challenge and runway.

Vivienne looked terrible for the performance. That old lady wig :D

Also lol at them blocking Jinkx for a design challenge.

I thought the first group won and was convinced either of Shea or Monet would win together with Yvie who was finally going to get her star.

I actually thought this was the worst episode so far. Both groups were kinda basic. And the runways were ok.

Nobody really stood out, but I do love that Viv was the one to win at doing Dolly.

I find it so hard to be objective watching this as in my head Jinkx wins most weeks :D

I love Jinkx but she was terrible. Her verse was out of tune.

I actually like it when names are given different pronunciations from each respective language. It's interesting to see how their rules are different.

The girl group challenges are always fun. I like the Y2K theme but not everyone remembered what was happening in the year 2000. I thought Monet and Trinity were dressed too slutty for 2000 in their challenges - big pop girls didn't really go for it like that pre-Stripped.

Dolly was an odd runway choice - it's not like she has really changed her style a lot over the year. It's not like Gaga or Madonna, where there are hugely different looks and eras to reference or not reference.

It’s taken me THIS long after seeing Carson Gayly, and thinking “lol Carson and Carson” to realise “no wait, Carson is the other one, that’s Ross”

:D :manson:

I'm really loving this season - the lack of eliminations is not hurting it one bit. Everyone seems to be having a ball and performing well for the most part. I feel like I should be cynical about everyone winning a star at this point but it doesn't feel unnatural at all, it's like everyone is doing their best and deserves it.

The only minor not even really an issue I have is it's a bit like the Oscars - I think a lot of queens are getting stars in lesser weeks when they deserved them in other challenges. E.g I think Yvie was hard done by not to get a star in the speeches one where she finally stepped up, was pretty on point AND looked stunning in the runway, whereas this week I'd probably have gone with several others instead. Or Raja who had been so deserving of a star up until the speeches, but in that I'd probably have placed her 3rd or 4th. But I mean, that's just a drag race thing in general so I'm not really complaining, it stands out here is all because everyone has a star.

I'm not sure this plunging business has much use, mind. It was all going smoothly in a "well just block the blocker" type routine, but I think Viv blocking Jinkx kind of broke the system a bit - I just don't want it going into petty UK vs The World nonsense that actually RUINS the entire series. I'm sure Jinkx will still be top 4 but equally I want The Viv up there too so this better not backfire.

Is the plunger twist that they get a star for every time they're blocked? This would make a lot of sense in terms of getting a desired/logical outcome so I sort of hope so :D

Ideal top 4 for me at this stage:

1. Jinkx
2. Raja
3. Probably The Viv as of now...
4. Pretty much any one else who turns it out from here on, and assuming the above 3 don't stumble. I worry for Raja who by and large has been MAGNIFICENT but I fear will get ousted.

Also I have no idea why I feel so happy for (and supportive of) Yvie Oddly :D I don't think I was a fan at all - and she is 100% one of the weaker winners with many flaws. But I hate this revisionist idea (that I may have entirely made up in my head) that Brooklyn was the correct winner of S11. I mean, I actually like Brooklyn on Drag Race Canada but she was far too clinical to outright win. I just rewatched that season's lip sync finale and though Brooklyn gives everything and the kitchen sink, Yvie oozes a certain star quality there with a clever and subtle late-reveal, so it was the right result, albeit it was a messy season. She only won one challenge but technically she won two with the last dance challenge which didn't have a winner for whatever reason.

I guess what I'm saying, annoying as she is, I'm happy Yvie is (just about) holding up in a season of winners and I hope she keeps doing well.

And it's so delightful seeing The Vivienne hold her own. I was so glad she won a lip sync and won an ACTUAL CASH prize for once :D I was really worried to begin with (that snatch game really wasn't it) but she seems more relaxed and into it as time goes on. Some amazing looks too. Yes she's playing on British-comedy-slapstick-drag tropes but frankly why not if it makes her stand out and as her runways prove she has a lot more than that.

Obviously and quite rightly Jinkx has this sewn up and I refuse to believe we're heading for any other conclusion.
