Trying to remember which US one I was on with my ex when a drunk old man got very aggressive with us about how awful the English are until he suddenly remembered that he loved John Lennon and then just went on about how great he was until we got off.

How would flags work though? A sign? Could get a bit boring?

We can send a picture of our station instead of a flag.

Poor Kate, I've sent no less than 4 entries. I know she can't stand to be centre of attention among so many homosexual gay mens so I do apologise :disco:

I've been having a think about my Assigned Countries ASFM.

I've come up with a list of 100 countries, and my plan is to assign TWO to each player - one from a list of easier countries, one from the harder countries. If anyone feels especially brave, they can just pick ONE and play the hand they're dealt.

Not sure who's doing the March ASFM, but that ought to be a themeless one, right?

How about if you pick the hard country you get an extra 10 points?

Also, I would like hard only, no choices, please.

I think "easy" and "hard" would be different for different people though. Like Japan is easy for Diddy, Greece is easy for ZZ, but both would be hard for most of the rest of us. So extra points would be tricky!

Funny though that this is exactly what my friend did for her Eurovision party in 2019 - we each got given two countries, one easy one hard, and had to choose one to represent with an outfit and booze. :D

Is this for April? It sounds very Kalavision-inspired.

I'm currently all aglow with my next entry, I can't stop listening to it. Is it competitive? Is it sorb-fantasia? Is it a has-been junkie now living in a farm? I can't tell you.

Is Kate hosting a pre-show Zoom? ASFMs really are the peak of current moopy culture.

It was what I was hoping KV would be - I went through a phase of just picking random countries and finding a load of songs I liked from each one, so as long as people are as thrilled by rigorous, obsessive research as I am then you'll all have a whale of a time.

There might be an issue with some of the harder country picks to be on Spotify?
If Butters was prepared to make it a speedish contest that might solve that issue? It would only need to be youtube. So the song selection could be two weeks but the rest over a day.

I would contest this example :D
Other people keep strolling in with Japanese songs and consistently beat me :bruised: it’s not easy

I like the country thing! I was excited for Kalavision tbh, I could see a good idea there but it just sort of collapsed under the weight of its own administration, he was doing a lot to try and give people a country they wanted.

but the 2 countries thing is a good idea, the easy/hard countries is subjective and it’ll never be perfect but it doesn’t mean it’s not worth a whack.

on a personal level I hope it’s not a speed one though, I probably wouldn’t be able to take part

Easy/hard would be more along the lines of countries with a varied music scene vs countries which are more identified with a particular style. For example, Finland or Panama - even though I doubt many people could name a Finnish singer off the top of their head, it's a lot easier to find a variety of songs for them than it would be for Panama.

Based purely on the sweeps I've done on Spotify and Google, of course.
