ASFM: Anti-Valentine Edition - RESULTS 6pm TONIGHT!

:o

So I was planning on opening this up and having a read from page 1 but I stupidly clicked on notifications and spoiled myself.:disco:

I nearly didn’t even enter this ASFM as I couldn’t settle on a song so this was unexpected. It’s lovely to not be the bridesmaid.

Thanks our @Kate for what I know was some fabulous hosting duties and everyone who gave the Foggy Bottom a few points!

I am looking forward to having a read through in a bit.

Now for an obnoxious and indulgent gif.

Choo choo!

okay but it’s also polite to mention the runner-up

I finally got to read the whole thread, so well done @Superstylin' !
I'm absolutely amazed that my song even got points, let alone come Top 30! I entered it for a laugh, because it's definitely not a serious song, so thanks for the lovely people that voted for it! :)

And thank you @Kate for being such an amazing hostess! :disco:

LET'S GO THEN!

First things first: Unfortunately the following three people did not vote, and so their songs receive a 135 point penalty. :(

Dance Witch Abortion (Parc de Montjuic): Anna Straker - Break Up Song
octophone (Canada Water): The Wedding Present - Come Play With Me
Penelope (Wapping): ELIO - CHARGER

I'm glad this lot never recieved the bizarre mean spirited nonsense I got when I didn't manage to vote. Nicely done Kate, and now on to my belated binge reading :)

My 2nd 20 from Indie in a row. My next entry probably won't get any :D

Omg reading this back and the level of hostility firing from all directions, whilst a slightly inebriated but dignified Kate continues to systematically churn out the scores, it’s quite a read!

Wow 4th, thanks for all those lovely scores from seemingly quite a lot of people this time. It seemed to be either really high scores or NOTHING in most cases! I see I got the Tischuana vote, I feel very special and loved. Doesn't matter though, I only found it on youtube. Not like anyone did anything to do well or win is it? @dUb coming in and out outcunting the cuntiness on display with whatever THAT was, was something else :D

Well done @Kate, this looks like a monster of a job and you definitely passed (out?)

Congrats @Superstylin. Fab fab winner, I know it was my 20 too, but I did peg this for the win. It had all the elements of a song getting points across the board and stood out among some of the more tepid and generic entries.

Oh my CHRIST :D

Although imagine my building excitement, knowing my score was still to come, having given Foggy Bottom 20. We get down to the last 3 or 4 and I just knew that for once my scores were being saved for a crucial last minute dethroning of the leader moment, for ultimate shock and a nail-biting finish....only for Kate to put out the penultimate score that gave Superstylin the crown with no hope of being caught, trolling us all. It's all done and dusted, well done etc. But anyway here's our final vote from Raining on Me :basil:

Well I’m glad to have provided a highlight/talking point my loves

Well it was certainly a moment that seemed intent on DEFLATING EVERYONE'S BALLOONS :D

We'd all lined up at Card Factory to be helium injected, only for some kid to come along and pop them all with a rusty coat hanger.

In response to dub’s “role model to your son(g) though?” moment :D

I think there’s a strong element of role play in this game, whereby you essentially form a one-person delegation (the singer, the song, the manager, the panicky gay PA who gets a stiletto thrown at them for bringing the wrong coloured M&Ms) and then try your best to woo your peers. Personally I have always tried to enter a song that has some meaning or statement to me, and think of the other entries as a little window into that poster’s mind, so it can be genuinely quite the thrill to see how the cards fall when we’re asked to throw points at each other :disco:

it was a GENERAL REMARK that I’m ENTITLED TO MAKE! I get that it wasn’t really in the spirit of things and never wanted to actually make anyone feel bad about it :(

I also should have elaborated that I just find it a bit odd to say thanks when the person never knew it was you in the first place???? Am I making it all better now? :)

The whole thing is ODD is wanna break it down. The whole of Moopy is pretty fucking ODD. But it's why we're here.
AND THATS FINE I WASNT TRYING TO DISMANTLE THE WEBSITE I JUST SAID IT

It really did make me feel like some sort of fucking arsehole for trying to be nice to people, I'll be honest. I appreciate that probably wasn't the intention, though!

I don’t think it was the intention and certainly it seemed it was a general observation rather than specific. It wouldn’t have crossed my mind for more than a few seconds if people hadn’t commented. I think it’s fine to say thanks for something like this where most will send a song they like and hope somebody else liked it. A bit like when you recommend something off the menu to a friend and they say “good choice” after eating it, I mightn’t have cooked it but I still feel a bit involved in their enjoyment of it.
