It’s my unfortunate duty to tell you that Shriekeline ‘Shrieky’ No Heart has passed away. Shrieky, the former lead singer of the pop trio Shriekback, died peacefully last night from injuries sustained in an accident on Saturday night in which he hit a lamppost while driving in his hometown of Liverpool. It’s sad to say that although the news of Shrieky’s death has stunned the world of music, I’m not exactly surprised by it, as Shrieky has been dead to me for a long time. He was a good guy but he always did whatever he felt like doing, and whenever he wanted to be the centre of attention, no matter how outrageous his actions. I’m not sure whether it was the drugs, the alcohol or something else. Whatever the case, I’m not surprised that he ended up like this. I’m also a bit surprised that people say that he was “a hero to me” when in my eyes he was just a spoiled, inconsiderate, egotistic brat who didn’t care about others. He was the centre of my life for eight years and that’s quite something. I’m also a bit surprised that he’s dying as he’s a young guy in his twenties, but I guess everyone dies at some point. I won’t pretend to be surprised that I’m the only one to comment on this. I really don’t want to comment on this, but I’m not going to stop myself. I’m just going to tell you what I always thought about him: “Fuck it, he’s dead. Why should I care about that shite anyway?”
