I haven’t missed the point at all. I just don’t know why this is Suomi or Buttertarts fault. Or why it has overtaken a fun forum contest.

For my part, this is why I got so irked. we had already dealt with the Faloola issue backstage, and we’ve genuinely spent so much free time trying to put together some nice entertainment as a distraction for all the crap outside, centred around what binds us all together, music.

But now several contestants are lying dead on Enya’s kitchen table, Buttertart is in the bathroom crying, and my butt is clenched waiting to hear what sort of person I am from Phoenix.

teaches kids about diversity & inclusion, has puts loads of time and energy into creating organised fun for Moopy, has a balanced perspective, has a brown teddy :disco: I think these are really good credentials actually.

Also this is meant to be enjoyable for the people organising this so maybe we can let them get on with it given that they’re doing this with all the right intentions. Thanks for all the effort you’re putting in @ButterTart and @Suomi - I will save my accusations for when I get knocked out x
 
It's really shitty when people neg on the hosts of these things, as if people get PAID to put these things on and we have a right to complain or something. I agree the Faloola thing was in poor taste and is problematic in 2021, but the hosts are putting in so much effort just keep us nobodies entertained, and didn't choose that avatar.
 
I’ll be voting tomorrow or Thursday hens, I’ve listened to some of the songs but always fall asleep after 3.

I could be wrong, but I'd like to think that nobody is actually BLAMING the hosts - by all accounts they gave the entrant the opportunity to change the icon, and as others have said there are so many plates to spin when running something like this that it can be tricky to start barring people from competing without creating a whole other shitshow.
 
The Faloola poster has cheerfully and without incident changed their avatar, so can we please welcome the iconic and deeply sensual Ms Miriam Margolyes to the contest?

I feel like this is the correct moment to draw a line under Faloola-gate. Shots have been fired, Faloola has been dropped by her manager and is now basically unemployable - which means the BBC are readying themselves to offer her Eurovision next year - and I think we can all get back to enjoying the iconic and deeply sensual songs of heat 2.

Suomi and I haven't hosted this contest - or any of the other nineteen contests we've hosted this year because honestly does nobody else do any fucking work around here and you don't understand how hard it is to carry an entire forum - with the intention of upsetting anyone or opening old wounds, and no malice has been intended either in choosing the avatar or in our decision to accept it. While I'm grateful for a bit of drama to bump the post count, I also don't want anyone to feel attacked or offended, so I hope we can all be friends and go back to calling each other's songs a load of shit like best friends should.

It all happened very amicably and with very minimal violence. I'm not used to such behaviour on Moopy; even the 'what's your favourite colour?' thread culminated in an armed siege (@Star really does not care for puce, it transpires).

It’s understandable. I ended up in a Flirts Youtube, Wiki and Spotify rabbit hole when I first saw a thread about them on here. In all they had about 14 different members, eat your hearts out Sugababes. I was particularly drawn to the ruthless looking blonde, Andrea (who doesn’t look like an Andrea) who is sadly no longer with us.

Re: ASFXMAS II: So I’ve found a song I really like that was on a Christmas playlist but the lyrics aren’t Christmassy at all and nor is the video so I’m like ‘is this a Christmas song?’ but it was clearly on the playlist for a reason but then again it’s not really a party song either so it might end up not fitting either brief even though Spotify tells me otherwise and that’s basically where I am with it all and I doubt I’ll sleep much tonight for fretting.

Anyway, you’ve got until 5pm tomorrow to vote in this heat.
