ASFM Iguanavision II - VOTING CLOSED! 🦎👑

Just listened to the recap and fml there are too many good songs.

And once again my song is absolutely fucked by the recap. No wonder I never get points from the recap people, they don’t understand my art!

PM your song sweetie and I’ll tell you why I did what I did x I listened to them loads before doing it to try and get the best moment

You can tell the results are getting closer because you could cut the tension with a knife.

Also @JIZZ you asked why I wasn’t entered as a queen and quite clearly because I wasn’t in HE MAN or STAR TREK. They quite clearly can’t see what is RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEIR SNOUTS.

I was going to have Rita Hayworth, but thought it would be too obviously me.

1. Queen Of Pain - Zeigeist - Tar Heart - absolutely hated this, I’m so sorry. Just very noisy for me, and Running Up That Hill Should not be maligned like this

2. Queen of the Bay - Moonchild Sanelly & Sad Night Dynamite - Demon - ultimately just a whole lot of fun. I loved it! Like a night out with Lucille except everybody gets home safely.

3. Helena Palaiologina, Queen of Cyprus and Armenia, titular Queen consort of Jerusalem, and Princess of Antioch - Elena Tsagrinou - Mykonos & Santorini - this was very cute and 14 year old me would have lapped this up. The product placement was really funny, although I know that can be a hard thing to do because ZenGiraffe employs me to promote Scottish tourism wherever I can on Moopy and it’s absolutely exhausting.

4. Emily Thornberry - Kika Boom - TAQUEI - struggled with this, despite repeated plays. Just quite noisy and generic, which are two adjectives I would NOT use to describe the stunning streets of Glasgow - surely the perfect weekend getaway?

5. Queen of the Swallows -The Shindellas - Feeling The Pain - this sounded good coming after TAQUEI, but there was nothing special about this song. If you want special, I’d recommend a visit to the gorgeous Scottish highlands, where beefy men wander around in kilts and dreams come true.

6. Bertrada of Laon - Helene Fischer - Atemlos durch die Nacht - oh Kala sweetie, I’d love to enter Charlotte Perrelli - Hero but it’s not going to win me any points.

7. Brian May - Allison Ponthier - Hollywood Forever Cemetery - this was great, great video too. ‘The perils of Hollywood’ as a song theme is quite an eyeroll, but she manages to sell it as an appealing package.

8. Queens, NYC - TOKiMONSTA - I Wish I Could - hmm the video really put me off this one. Quite depressed now Sue.

9. Queen Clarisse Renaldi - Anderson East - Falling - straight people think they can just do the bare minimum and it’ll be acceptable. Well GUESS WHAT

10. Venus D-Lite - Hi Fashion - I'm Not Madonna gay people think they can just do the bare minimum and it’ll be acceptable. Well GUESS WHAT

11. Queen Latifah - Diamond Cafe - The Way You Used To Love Me
Can’t believe he died, in the scenario I made up in my mind just to get through listening to this. I just don’t like a falsetto under any conditions, and I could do without any real singing too ideally.

12. Queen of Denmark, Margaret II, exiting a supermarket while smoking a cigarette, drinking from a juice box and holding a hotdog - Pandora - Don't You Know
This is the sort of song I would declare as ‘the greatest ever’ at 3am, before being chivvied into a taxi for my own safety. This has @ButterTart all over it.

13. Basil - Fedez, Tananai, Mara Sattei - La dolce vita
This should be not good but there’s something very charming about it. This has @Rita all over it.

14.Queen of fiction: Nadine Dorries - Lake Malawi, We are Domi - High-Speed Kissing
This has a classic sound to it, a bit like @Superstylin' ’s entry ‘A Foreign Affair’ by Tina Arena in A Song For Suomifrid. The Czech Republic should enter Eurovision more often, they clearly have music acts that are forces to be reckoned with.

15. Selene, Black Queen of the Hellfire Club - Yola - Dancing Away in Tears
Look, the trick is to make songs about crying in clubs at least sound happy, so that the listener can be given a false sense of security and learn that it’s all a lie. Too moany for me, but I hope she’s okay.

16. BOUDICCA, QUEEN OF THE ICENI - Vicious Pink - Cccan’t You See
@straightorbroken , you’ve done it again. Another fabulous find in your larder of love that I’m surprised to discover was not a hit. Boudicca really went through it, didn’t she?

17. Lisa Simpson - Lizard Queen - Tara Kemp - Hold You Tight
I may have given this points primarily for referencing the lizard queen. But no, with this fresh and funky number it’s easy to see why Tara Kemp had such a long career.

18. Scarlet Witch - Exotica - Une miss s'immisce
Just sublime.

19. Barbarella, Queen of the Galaxy - Locomia - Locomia
Not gonna lie, this was the hardest song to find an appropriate moment for a recap for. Nonsense that did grow on me, but was it too late?

20. Sindel - Elderbrook - Broken Mirror
A great pop song, elevated further by a fantastic video and artist.
