See, my problem with most ASFMs is the glut of vaguely uptempo white woman pop that seems to do unreasonably well. By comparison, this feels like one of the more diverse contests we've ever held.

I think the more atypical entries really shone as a consequence of what's been touched upon (however unfairly). I do think the opportunity Worldvision presents wasn't exactly taken by many (a generic English-language banger for [redacted], [redacted], [redacted] and [redacted], really?) But choosing a song you're happy with isn't always easy. A song I liked vs originality only really factored in my scorecard when it came to my 1 point allocation anyway, and I still felt this was a very good batch and semi 1 was one of the strongest visual set so far.
