Forget about being unable to pay your bills for a while, put away those razor blades, and stop siphoning your neighbours' petrol because it's time to wash away those end-of-time blues with A SONG FOR XMAS 2022. Now into its third run, the most popular and easily best-run yuletide ASFM is here and ready to bring you MUCH MELODIOUS FESTIVE CHEER. Or melancholy at worst.
It's time to make your Christmas playlist the one all your friends will be VERY JEALOUS OF. They'll wonder how you became such a connoisseur of Christmas music! Your secret is safe with us. Join me, @dmlaw and a host of TWINKLING STARS for the next few weeks to get cosy, jubilant and just a touch unhinged.
What you need to know
As ever the theme is CHRISTMAS PARTY so CHRISTMAS or PARTY or CHRISTMAS PARTY. Interpret that how you wish! If you hate Christmas you're welcome to add to the PARTY THEME. We've had a variety of genres from indie to Europop, disco to rock, novelty pop, rock, jazz, acoustic, and ambient pieces.
Last year was a touch downbeat, so I'm hoping for a blast of ENERGY this year, preferably with a visual (it's not essential, but let's make the playlists SEASONAL and INTERESTING!)
At this stage, all you need to do is choose a song and a festive avatar and send it to me by Friday 2nd December, so you have a luxurious 12 days to pick a song. The sync playlists will follow between the 3rd and 7th December, depending on the availability of @dmlaw with the results likely to be sometime around 18th -22nd December. Songs MUST be on both Spotify and YouTube. The time limit is 7 minutes
The avatar theme is A FAMOUS PERSON ENJOYING CHRISTMAS. If there's time/ energy there WILL BE a mini contest for best avatar, with bonus points available!
