There were quite a few in Tesco's yesterday without masks, even some staff. I don't get how these people aren't even embarrassed to not be wearing one!
 
Supermarket staff don't have to. I'm not sure I would if I was working there either. 9 hours of manual labour in a mask? No thanks.

The staff don’t tend to wear masks in supermarkets around here. Then again, we’ve been nicknamed ‘Treacle Town’ because the locals are thick and slow, so that may have something to do with it.

I'm in full PPE (gloves, apron, mask, visor/goggles) all day long, and yes it's uncomfortable but I wear it to protect myself, my family and and everyone else I see. To me it's a no brainer.

We’re having the absolute bare minimum in the office at the minute so thankfully we don’t have to wear PPE unless we’re seeing someone. If it gets busier I imagine we’ll be geared up to the eyeballs all day, which I’ll gladly do even if I hate every second of it.
 
We've had a huge Covid email go out at work about all the new things we have to do. The most upsetting being, we can no longer make each other drinks. I use that as an excuse to leave Reception for 20 minutes :(

I've been surprised how many people are wearing them on the tram, its only the occasional kid and the guy who was off his tits at 9am smoking and spilling cider the other week, but I don't think he even knew he was on a tram.

I'll probably continue wearing one on public transport if/when this is all gone. The met is fucking luxury compared to the tube, but even still, its just a bit rolling germ wagon.

I'm not saying there's no risk from a supermarket worker, but in your line of work you're doing the very thing that significantly increases risk, right? Spending c.15 minutes in close proximity to a single person.
 
Re; supermarkets - if the till staff have the plastic screens, they don't need to wear a mask as well but they can do so if they prefer. If you're out on the floor, you should be masked. That's my understanding of it, anyway.

Indeed it's more risky which is why I wear the full works, but a supermarket worker can easily wear a mask. I see them all over the place getting so close to hundreds of people and still not wearing a mask.
 
I was at a pub the other day and the manager was at the front door telling everyone to check in online. All well and good, but he was leaning right over people’s shoulders to show them what to do, and even taking their phones and doing it for them in some cases. Was he wearing a mask or washing his hands in between? Was he BUGGERY.

Chains may have different recommendations for different staff, but a quick google suggests it's not mandatory for any supermarket staff.
 
Yeah it's not mandatory, and this is the trouble *sighs*

I see also people are beginning to panic buy again.

As the only supermarket mentioned was Tesco, I thought that's who we were talking about...I don't know about other places. I can only imagine Waitrose are in radiation suits given the number of posh idiots refusing to mask up.

Yep. Dettol and Flash bathroom cleaner are becoming a bastard to get hold of. It’s like people don’t remember that the supermarkets were all open as normal the last time around.
 
Funny how we've got another round of panic buying just as the stocks people built up in March are running down...*puts on tinfoil hat*
 
I can’t believe this toilet roll thing is happening AGAIN. That was almost as traumatising as the death toll. In fact it was WORSE. I had horrible visions of using clothes or the sofa. Anyway, I’ve got 12 in the cupboard so PM me if you need one. Only £50 a roll :disco:
 
I mean people are probably panic buying because the modeling/predictions of cases looks scary, but lets not get into that :P
 
I wonder if "the supermarkets created Coronavirus" would fly on Twitter?

Does the company you work for have a base down south, or are you looking for a new job too? My GOD SDF you don’t do things by halfs.

They do have a large base in England, but like most companies are probably exiting London roles where they can. My current team are all Edinburgh.

But since we are working from home “in to 2021” right now though, it doesn’t make a difference where I am. I guess when we eventually start office working again, I might need to either find a London job with my company or externally.

The good thing about this is that if I hate London (I won’t though) I’ve not lost my job in Edinburgh. So it really is as risk free as a move to a new city can be.
