Agreed. But it's a shame that performance wasn't rewarded. But I guess you could say the same about Finland to a certain extent.

It really is the age old question of what would Delta have had to do to beat BANGARANGA ?

I honestly don’t think there is anything she could have done having seen the voting
 
Dami is the better vocalist, but Delta is still brilliant and a much more charismatic performer. Best entry they’ve had I’d say.
 
Delta was the best vocal performance this year, but she still pales when compared to, say, Pastora Soler.

Will Australia be in Eurovision Asia or is it literally Asia and not Asia Pacific?

I think although X Factor led to Dannii eventually being very widely loved/liked as a judge it also created some sort of mental block about performing on a big stage ever again as a singer alone sadly.

Delta, well she looked great, she performed great but the song was a bit nothingy. I also preferred Dami Im (mentored originally by Dannii of course).

9th with the public is a tad underwhelming, but at least it was up there and didn't totally tank the televote which was my big fear. A good result for Australia, especially given an early slot.

She received televoting points from 25 countries plus ROTW, which is very decent.

Is she THAT famous over all the voting countries for that to be much of a factor?

Or at least I don't think sending an unknown with that uninspired song would have had a better outcome. Never mind them having a hope of matching that performance.
 
I don't think Delta is famous at all outside of the English-speaking lands. So much of her 00s success was driven by Neighbours.

Wikipedia suggests Sweden was the only other country where she ever achieved a top 10 hit.
 
Do we think she'd ever return to Eurovision? She seemed genuinely delighted to be there.

If rumours are to be believed and she does do Strictly this year then she seems determined to get her name out there again after so long.

She's still a major celebrity in Australia. Representing your country on the international stage at Eurovision is still prestigious enough to bother with (unless you're from the UK). But wasting your time pissing around with Love Island contestants and Anton Du Beke?

She’s entered five Spotify charts today and about twelve on Apple Music, so she may at least get a charting hit across part of the continent which is a bit of a win for her in 2026.

I could see her doing Strictly at some point - I don't think she is too big a name - but she has an album out in November, which I would think rules her out for this year.

And interestingly, my Swedish friends who I spent all night yapping to, told me they'd never heard of her and she'd never made it there.

Makes sense - she was very much a minor one-hit wonder (Lost Without You made #9)

It would be like if someone plonked Alizee or Vanessa Amorosi on stage. Moopy would go TITS OUT WILD, but in no way would it be a talking point with the rest of the UK public, let alone influence a televote.




Ultimately I'm not sure "Eclipse" was as strong a song as Delta was a performer. We've had plenty of songs of that ilk before. It's a shame she didn't still have "Wings" in her back pocket - THAT would have proper smashed I think, with the more frantic piano and BELLS.

The song isn’t her best, but I’m not sure even a better song like Wings would’ve changed the result much at all. The performance way overpowered the song anyway (in a good way).
 
Astonished by the suggestion that she might turn down Strictly, if offered. She’d be a mid-tier Masked Singer booking.
