Ava Max - Diamonds & Dancefloors

This album is a hot pop thrill ride. Not a real dud.

Last Night On Earth is my current pick, but also very much into Sleepwalker.

Slight and very obvious whinge that a few of these songs could really do with an extra thirty seconds, especially the title track.

I'm trying to see how you can possibly hate Weapons, so I've just accepted that y'all have heinous taste.

A friend pointed out Dancings Done sounds like Alice Cooper - Poison and I can’t unhear it now

it's the too-cheesy a capella chorus intro, generic lyrics that don't fit the album thematically, and the fact that the melodies really don't have even a second to breathe. the verses are great. but overall it sounds like a sequel to So Am I, and nobody needed that.

Yeah, it's on the naff side of things. Not that I listen to Ava for MAX lyrics but these border on parody, almost.

@KindaCool to apologize in this thread please (soon)

Sorry Music Video GIF

I have these songs swirling in my head ALL DAY, and not just one but ALL OF THEM. And to be fair to @Pipo I really didn't like Weapons to begin with but it's now become just another brilliant tune. The words are a little ridiculous but I can't help being hooked on those hooks :agnes:

I DISAGREE! I was listening to H&H last night and it struck me how much harder this album goes. the production is a serious glow up, Cirkut did that.

it's also such a kii that she basically wrote a (sometimes quite vicious) breakup album and then got her ex to produce it. :disco: she did say Dancing's Done is her fave and a preview of what's to come, and it's the only one not produced by him.

I never said it's a BAD THING though.

If anything is that albums following a similar path just double down on the potential of the Artisté like when we were served with The Fame + Monster and Animal + Cannibal :disco: :eyes:

The CD is now down to £7.99 so have done my duty and purchased the Amazon exclusive cover version (through the Moopy link obviously).

I've been (cli)Maxing to this whole album today. There really isn't anything I dislike. Even MYTP sounds better now that it's part of the full thing.

I had my boppiest session so far with this SEMINAL DANCE-POP OPUS this morning :disco:

I-I-
I-I-I-
I know what you did last suuuu-huuu-hu-hum-merrrr

I CANNOT STOP HAMMERING TURN OFF THE LIGHTS

the absolute CUNT being served by that "see the other side, mirage of your life" verse is off the fucking charts (just like this album in week two) :disco:

so this took a tumble from the midweek to flop in at #11. gay cult classic status confirmed! :disco:

I’m like Ava I don’t care about the sharts because this album is just perfection, even half an hour away from it fills me with a feeling of encroaching doom
