God this was so much better than Pure & Simple (They were formed on the Australian run of Popstars, which pre-dated ours). I like how cool and understated it is, I suspect it could have been a hit even without the Popstars tag - which may in fact have harmed them in the UK where this peaked at #45.

I remember thinking it could have been a good followup to 'Dirty Water' by Made In London. It definitely has that vibe.



I bought the single at the time and the B-side was really good too, I still have it on my ipod 12 years later. It was called Empty Room and it sounded a bit like Everything But The Girl.

Nothing Bardot did subsequently ever really appealed to me though. ASAP was catchy, but had silly lyrics, and These Days was given a far better reading by Jennifer Paige.

God, going through their (limited) run of hits on youtube now, the followup 'I Should've Never Let You Go' is SO SHIT :D



Why would you follow up a massive and quite credible-sounding number one hit with something that sounds like it was recorded by five amateurs huddled over a dictaphone in a TOILET CUBICLE?

"I Need Somebody" is probably their finest. An actual genuine hit too (not based off a promo tour etc), shame they disbanded so soon after.

After leaving Bardot to star in a touring production of Hair that ended up getting cancelled (:D) Katie Underwood or "the lesbian one" made this CLASSIC with Disco Montego who eventually worked with Mariah or something until one of them died

But Sophie Monk was the only one who actually got to release an album, the iconic top 35 smash Calendar Girl which featured covers of Pie Jesu and Ave Maria (seriously) and the singles Get The Music On:

And One Breath Away which was shit so I'm not linking it. Just like Schizophonic carried on the Spice, Calendar Girl is the third Bardot album that never was. Sophie Monk went on to become a "Hollywood star" (she was in a few crap movies for 2 seconds) and now presents radio or something and recently claimed Woody Allen wanted her for Vicky Cristina Barcelona but she didn't return his call in time.

Belinda Chapple, or "the old one" released an Olympics song in 2004 which really has to be heard to be believed



But then redeemed herself with Move Together, which I bought NEW a good eight or so years after release for ten cents

I totally forgot Tiffani released an album too, but it was independent so it doesn't count

Before getting dropped she did release one single What R U Waiting 4, which was later covered by Lindsay Lohan and the Bratz Rock Angelz



I met Tiffani at Janet Jackson: Number Ones Up Close And Personal and she was very nice if a bit freaked out that me and my friend knew who she was. A little girl with her said "Are these BARDOT FANS, Tiffani?" Yes we are little girl. Yes we are

As far as I'm aware Sally Polihronas, or "the other one", has never done anything even remotely of note since Bardot. She has possibly died.
 
I forgot to mention that when I bought Move Together for ten cents they actually charged me five dollars, which is what it would have been at the time of release. When I took it back to the counter and pointed out the 10c sticker the cashier said "Oh it is too ten cents, sorry. Otherwise, why would you want it?"

I have both their albums, which should be surprising to absolutely NOBODY. The second one was FAR better than the first. Poison was the best thing on the first album.

Interestingly enough VoR, they covered Dirty Water for their second album.

Belinda was also in GIRLFRIEND for about TWO minutes. I was obsessed with them back in 1993.
