God this was so much better than Pure & Simple (They were formed on the Australian run of Popstars, which pre-dated ours). I like how cool and understated it is, I suspect it could have been a hit even without the Popstars tag - which may in fact have harmed them in the UK where this peaked at #45.
I remember thinking it could have been a good followup to 'Dirty Water' by Made In London. It definitely has that vibe.
I bought the single at the time and the B-side was really good too, I still have it on my ipod 12 years later. It was called Empty Room and it sounded a bit like Everything But The Girl.
Nothing Bardot did subsequently ever really appealed to me though. ASAP was catchy, but had silly lyrics, and These Days was given a far better reading by Jennifer Paige.
