A sequel nobody asked for.

Warner Bros announced it is now officially known as Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. WB also shared the first poster, which confirms that the film will still make its slated release date of September 6 despite strike delays.

Michael Keaton returns in the titular role. The rest of the ensemble includes Winona Ryder, Jenna Ortega, Catherine O'Hara, Willem Dafoe, and Monica Bellucci.

I’m guessing they’ve conveniently killed off sex offender Jeffrey Jones?

It looks like that awful hideous straight to DVD Munsters remake Rob Zombie did last year.

Same: I'm encouraged to watch it after that. I definitely won't have any suspense watching him like I did when younger though. I'm filing it alongside Hocus Pocus 2 in what it will be delivering in comparison to the original.

The shots of Monica Bellucci in that trailer are :disco: Tim Burton is down bad.

I'm fine with it looking cheap - that was part of the original surreal charm

But I sense that this sequel is going to be just a tad too self-referential and knowing; lots of repeated jokes from the original, Beetleguese being watered down into a "loveable anti-hero", and overly camping up Catherine O'Hara now that she's a recognised icon. Jenna Ortega feels like lazy casting.

That is a much better trailer. The lack of Delia in all this is QUITE CONCERNING though.

This has 77% on Rottentomatoes and is tracking to open just shy of $100m in the USA, not bad at all for a sequel to a 35 year old movie!

now looking at $110m+ first weekend. 50% of the audience is aged 18-34. I'm kinda surprised!

Thought this was utter shite but I’m glad Winona is getting her flowers.

It baffles me how long they dragged one of the main character's gag about him not being able to appear in the movie for so long considering what he did in real life.

they should've just brushed it all off in one scene out of respect (for the character anyway) and that's it.

Yes, this! First the puppet which I thought was a weird way to go about it, and then using his photo loads anyway?

Wait who are you talking about?

I did watch this just yesterday btw :D

OH WAIT I SEE

I thought the actor was just actually dead

Going on Saturday. Not quite a date, but he was going with 2 girl friends and I've now barged my way into their little mix.

On the bright side I have been blasting MacArthur Park (Donna's, obviously) for the past two days.

I finally got around to watching this last night.

I think it was fine for what it is but it was VERY odd to keep brining up the character of Charles over and over. (Especially considering the real life situation)

Jenna was basically doing day drag Wednesday.

Monica was gorgeous but the character really didn’t get much to do.

Overall a solid 7 for me
