It's truly ONE TO TELL THE KIDS

I dont know why I remember stuff like this, I think the shell suits and flashing colours in those videos brought on some sort of hypnotic regression :disco:

Who am I kidding? :( it's stuff like this that means I forget where i LIVE sometimes

I loved that they all hated the lead singer of Precious. Jenny Frost thanked all the other member of Precious bar her in the sleevenotes of the first Atomic Kitten album.

Yes, I loved that too! The lead singer girl famously referred to all her bandmates as 'colleagues, not friends.' I mean, fair enough to think that, but at least attempt to pretend you like each other.

As I am re-listening to the album right now I am actually pleased with the overal quality of it. In my opinion, its a lot better than Precious' album. Even "You Got The Flava" isn't completely comedy - it sounds a bit like "We've Got It Goin' On" by the Backstreet Boys.

Edit: He's Playing Hard To Get is comedy especially the Vanilla-esque spoken intro - "Girls, is that Tim over there? Melissa I heard he likes you" AMAZING

''he just won't admit it....BUT HE LIKES ME''!!!

'Fantasy is an acceptable Solid HarmoniE ballad too.

*UPDATE*

Upon reflection, I have decided I was a little hasty in my praise for Solid HarmoniE's album by calling it better than Precious' effort. I have therefore decided they are about the same.

Talking of Precious, I have just rediscovered how good Stand Up was - its just as good as the other disco sounding tracks of the era - Stomp, Girls On Top and Don't Stop Movin'

The Solid Harmonie LP is weak as anything bar the single. I deleted everything but the singles.

The Precious album has some other good moments bar the singles - "These Days" ( later covered by Mis-Teeq) and "Stand Up" (which was rumoured to be the second single for about a million years by a Smash Hits weekly artist round-up section

Yes, but Precious have points deducted for having Jenny Frost in the line-up.

Whilst all of this is ALL WELL AND GOOD I think it overlooks the fact that Precious' "Rewind" was the best Britney/Max Martin aping NONSENSE of the time...

I third this! The Almighty mix is just PURE JOY. I never played a mix so much as this one (except maybe the Xenomania Mix of ALLstars - 'Back When')

@Iguana did you vote in this essential poll?

vote the right way, your mod election depends on it hun

I Wanna Love You really is a bit grittier than the others, what an absolute tune

sad to see it’s got about a fifth of the streams of both I Want You to Want Me and I’ll Be There for You

2020 RANK

1. I Want You To Want Me
2. I'll Be There For You
3. I Wanna Love You
4. To Love Once Again

To be honest it's a set of TENS across the board. :disco:

In terms of second/third tier 90s girl bands, Solid Harmonie are right at the top with N-Tyce for me.

N-tyce?!

Solid HarmoniE third tier?! :shock::shock:

HUN!

It's not as if they had a top ten hit is it!

Anyway I liked CUT-PRICE ALL SAINTS. I was more of a prepubescent pop/R&B (if you can call it that) queen in those days.

I was OBSESSED with Solid HarmoniE back in the day. I had posters of them on my walls, bought all the singles in all the versions, including the debut single only released in Germany before Elisa replaced Mariama, then Mariama came back, I even had the Japanese version of the album with exclusive songs!

Their second album never saw the light of day but I think I managed to get all the songs from it from different sources. I’ll try to find where I’ve saved them.

I had a bit of a deep dive with this album last year and aside from the singles, let’s just say it’s definitely a late 90s girlband album.

I’m not sure I’m able to ironically enjoy the tracks that are flirty and sexual but absolutely not allowed to say anything dirty - so lots of funking, freaking, blowing of...minds :D

My keepers were the singles, plus naff ballad Walk Away and spoken-word vaguely oriental When we Kiss :D they used the whole Asian sound effect pack on there

Did we not do a Flop Listen Party for this? It’s pretty ripe for it.

hot singles
censored TLC knockoffs
pure Christian wedding love songs
spoken-word intros

all just stuck together

just refreshed my memory on “He’s playing hard to get” - hey girls! Isn’t that TIM over there?

No we didn’t do a flop listen because:

1. It was number 1 in the Netherlands
2. @dUb fucked it with eternal
